HEY!  I just found this forum.  How cool!  I love OH - but haven't been here in a long time ... see what I missed by not looking now and then?

I'm 5 yrs post-op RNY, lost 120 lbs, & maintaining nicely at 140 lbs.  Life is fabulous, and I've taken up the sport of endurance (horseback) riding, where every month I ride up to 250 miles at 50 to 100 miles per day, and this summer, I plan to ride the Tevis - 100 miles in 24 hours on my trusty mule.

The problem is my arthritic knees, ankles, hips and hands for which, as you all know, NSAIDS are a no-no.  My surgeon's office has  said I can use Tylenol w/Codeine or Ultram, or Vicodin for pain, but nobody seems to know about the use of "natural" plant derivitaves such as Yucca as an anti-inflammatory.  Anybody know anything about this???

Thanks!

Congrats on maitaining the weight loss.  I used tylenol and hydrocodone 10/325 mg. APAP.  I don't know about the herbals.  I know that Glucosamine helps with my knees and when I don't take it for a while I feel the pain back in my knees.

Good luck.

I'm on an antiinflammatory - naproxn - twice a day and also take one aspirin a day.  The doctor said taking these would be fine, with no problems.  I see her next week and I'll be sure to check again to make sure.
