Well don't ask me why I didn't know about this area till today. Short history, I had open RNY 2-20-07. I was 421 at my highest and I'm now down to about 210. My goal weight is to stay between 200-220 according to my doctors. I've had back issues since high school (if not before). They just found degenerative arthritis in L4, L5 and S1. Well they found it September of 2006. I'm currently going to a pain control doctor due to the pain issues. I'm now with a second one due to issues with my first one. I'm now on medical leave till we can find something that helps it. My pain got 10X worse since I have had surgery and lost over 200 pounds. Don't know why but it is so much worse. I have a 6 year old daughter (will be 7 on July 14th). I also have two pups a yorkie and a chi. (yorkie ~ Belle and chi ~ Baby)  I'm currently taken norflex and viciden for the issues. I just got a tens unit on Wednesday. I've started trigger point injections Thursday with this new doctor too. I had 3 rounds with my old daughter but this one does it a little different. I've done traction, PT, electric stem and home work outs. Has anyone delt with this type of arthritis? Anything process work for you? Did anyone's pain get worse after surgery? I was told that is should get better but mine didn't. So I'm new to this area but have been on the OH site for awhile. So hello and hope to talk to everyone more. ETA ~ I have also developed an ulcer. It was just found middle of May. Going to a specialist on Wednesday to see what we can do.

Hi there... Welcome.. I have Rhumetoid Arthritis.. was just diagnosed in September of last year.. I had my lapband surgery done in 2004. Its true what you say... instead of making the problem better it got worse.. here I am thining I was going to have a better life now that the weight is off, I get this curve ball thrown at me! I am am on a co-steroid so that just stalls the weight loss even more...

So far nothing I've been on has stalled my weight too much. My weight was at a stand still for a short time due to bi-polar meds, but that wasn't long. Its beena huge "curve ball" thrown at me but we're making it. I'm allergic to steroids so I can't take anything like that. Things are VERY limited due to allergy, RNY and ulcer now. Its tougher but there's things to help, I know there is

The pain getting worse might be to the fact you are getting more active as the weight is coming off.  It’s hard to keep up the activity to take off more weight when you are having pain. I’m trying Physical Therapy and some different medications.  I went in the pool last week and found I can do a good work out with no pain.

I did another type of trigger point injections with the new doctor. It didn't work. She said I actually have degenerative disk disease and arthritus ontop of that. She's asked that I swim at least 2-3 times a week as long as the pool is open. I am going in for nerve blocks in August. I'm going on vacation July 18-29th so we'll not be home anyways. So I'll be excited to come back and get this figured out. They did say they think it might be due to being more active now. Thanks forthe input
