Meds for Fibro & RA after RNY....

Hello Everyone: I am 3 weeks post-op.  I have fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis.  Prior to surgery, I was on methotrexate, salsalate, effexor xr and a small dose of amitriptylene (to help me sleep).  I also know that the rheumatologist wants to put me on remicade.  After browsing this board,  I'm now curious as to whether or not I can still take these meds now that I've had RNY.  It's been a while since I've seen my Rheumatologist and I probably won't be able to get in to see him for another 2 months.  Any advice would be helpful as I'm so confused about meds right now. Thanks, Marie

Marie, That is a decision for your doctor to make. There should be no problem in taking these meds. Assuming that you told your surgeon all the meds you are on he or she would have told you if you should stop taking them. The general rule with most surgeries is that unless your doctor or surgeon tell you otherwise then you should continue the medical retuine you had before the surgery. That said you should probably see your rheumatologist as soon as possible. Rusty editor http://arthritis-symptom.com/
