Pain Clinics

How do you find a pain management clinic?  Do you need your dr. to refer you?  My fibro is giving me fits and altoug my rheumatologist tries to help, it isn't enough. KimM.

Kim, I am sorry to hear that your Rheumatologist has not already referral you to a pain clinic.  You do not need referrals to go to a pain clinic although your insurance may require one if they are going to cover it. The simplest thing to do is to ask you primary care physician or Rheumatologist for a referral. http://www.pain.com/ is one of the largest pain sites on the Internet. They have a searchable database of over 3000 pain clinics. Also at the top of the page they have a link marked consumers which will provide you with many great resources. as far as i know you will need a doctor to refer you,at least i did(im not obese i have back problems),there may be a some that dont need it, good luck and hope you find relief
