Pain medication
Hello all, I'm a little over 3 weeks out and I have OA and a little RA. Ive been on neurontin, ultram, celebrex, and naproxen, my doctor had me to try lyrica, it worked great for P. neuropathy. My question is can we take pills that is not chewable? I getting ready to call my surgeon and ask him when I can have meds for this condition, I'm having leg and arm pain. Diabetes I believe is going. your help is appreciated, I am on liquid loratab but it only temperary.
God bless,
Pooky
I have been swallowing pills since day two (day one was the PCA with morphine! Good stuff! LOL) in the hospital. I couldn't get or keep the liquid lortab down. Be sure to ask your Dr., but at almost 3 years out, I take : Oxycontin, Vicodin, Neurontin, and Ranitidine(for my stomach) I have Fibro, OA, RA, periphrial neuropathy, and am just about 3 weeks out from my second knee surgery in less than a year. If not for the meds, I literally would not be able to get out of bed in the morning. The Oxy is a time release-12 hour med, but I take the Vicodin to cover the 4-6 hour span that the Oxy has of drop off and restart between doses. (meaning the Oxy actually stays in my system for about 8-10 hours usually instead of the 12 that people with normal tummy's )
Hope this helps!

I have been told that pain meds will be ok but no anti inflamitory meds. That means no Celebrex. I take Voltaren and Lyrica and I imagine after my surgery I will not be able to take them. I will however be able to take the Oxycodone and MsContin I take for pain. OA sucks but I am hoping the loss of the weight will greatly decrease my pain and increase my mobility. (No Advil or Motrin either....only Tylenol)
Good luck.....Dee
