Did any of you have to go on Disability?

I have an office job...but just walking in from the parking lot is so painful.....Some of my Friends/co-workers have done some of my jobs that require short walks. I dont think this is fair to them. I have used up my sick time and no matter how painful I have to use my walker to get into work. I am just about to have my WLS....have finished all classes and testing at Kaiser. My knees are bone on bone and will have knee surgery after WLS but its so hard to deal with my loss of mobility......My house is such a mess.....very frustrating. I know things will get better in the future. Cindi

yes, i am on disability. I have RA, OA and fibro. Do you have short-term or long term disability? If so check into using them. Also check into FMLA which protects your job for 12 weeks if you have to be away from work. If you have not purchased short or long term disability do so now!!! tech whiz

sad to say I am 22 and have arthritis, I am having my WLS on July 20th and I am going on disablity I have to be out of work for 8 weeks

I just got my disability last May 2006. I had to quit my job because I couldn't keep up with the work due to pain. You should apply for disability and long term disability with your job and you will get both of them til legal retirement age. I applied with social security and they didn't get my correct medical records and I was denied, so I got a lawyer. They pay you back pay from the time they say you should have been disabled. I had to hire a lady to clean my house and my husband had to do all the grocery shopping. I am bone on bone in my left knee and my right knee is getting there too. My orthopedic dr gives me steriod shots in my knees and it helps with the pain. So I know how it feels. If you have any questions email me. Pattie

Hello Pattie,  I was looking for someone to help me get my disability also.  I am bone on bone with both knees for several years now but I don't know how to go about getting disability.  I am 321lbs and have severe knees pains especially walking into the parking lot to work.  I have trouble taking a shower because I can't stand for very long.  Any information you could give me would be helpful.  My house is also a mess.  I have not been to the grocery store in over 2 years.  I honestly thought I was the only one suffering with all this pain in my knees.  My daughter lives in GA and I can't visit because she lives on the third floor and her apartment does not have an elevator, so that makes me very depressed.
