Hi Ron
Thank you for sharing your story and being open about your journey to a new, healthier, you.
Each and every story I read leaves a seed of wisdom with me. For those that have not had an easy time, its a reminder to me that this is a life-altering surgery that can be very serious. For those that have not had as difficult of a time, it offers me hope. You commented that bariatric surgery is not for those with a 100 lbs or less to lose. I am right there with you on that! Its become the newest in "fad diets" and viewed by too many as a quick fix. I personally was against the procedures for such a long time and its taken some major health complications of my own to finally face the fact, this is my last chance to become healthier. I am a single parent and my son needs me. I will do whatever is necessary so that I increase the odds that I will be there for his graduation and beyond.
Thank you for your inspiration.

Topic: Any one have trouble maintaining?
I reached my goal wieght of 130. Size 4, but due to change in job-less active. I find I am slowly over the last few months gained 10 lbs back. I don't want to stretch stomach but worry that I may have. I do graze more then I should. Any suggestions from those who started down this path and was able to quit this? I have recently started back exercising. Thanks for any suggestions.

Gillyjo--Have you talked to someone about Fibromyalgia? I think it would be worth your time to speak to a Rhuematologist about this....I have it. It's not a fun time. But if they do decide you have it there are medications that can help. Good luck.
Okay, so I am freak also. I am constantly thinking about what this is doing to my body. But I knew that I would. I didn't want to have the surgery but felt it was the last option for me. My husband and I talked about a revision later down the line. I am considering having VSG when I meet and maintain goal. Have all my bowels put back where they go. I don't know that I will but I have really thought about it. I think there are a lot of us that worry. There is probably a happy medium. I have met people who think this is the best thing in the world and then there are people like us....who knows? I asked about reversal at my infomation meeting prior to surgery. My Doc has done 1 reversal. But there is a surgery who does revisions at the same Center.
I wish you the best of luck.

Topic: RE: enlarged stoma
I'm 1 year out and I find I can eat a whole lot more lately. I still eat mostly soft foods (slider). I too was wondering if my stomach or my stoma has stretched. How is the stoma fixed?

I have not been on this forum for a while...not since I had my surgery in 2004. But, for the past year, and more so for the past few months, I have been living with such pain. It's not really a pain I can say is in one place, it;s more all over my body. It is sometimes accompanied by a feeling of complete and utter exhaustion. A doctor did some tests looking for arthris, etc, but the only thing the tests showed was that I had inflammation in my body.
I've come to this forum to see if this pain, etc., could be related to my bypass surgery. I too feel worse now than I did when I had all the weight on. I have pain whenever I move and have a hard time getting anything done.
I have never full entertained the thought of reversal, but I can't imagine getting older feeling like this. I already feel like an old woman.
I'm just not sure if others are feeling like this and how I find out if this is due to my WLS surgery?

Topic: RE: I hate my band.
Thank GOD I am not alone! I was beginning to think that I was loopy. I cannot keep a fill for more than a month or so because I swell shut and can't even ge****er down. Usually, I will chew on ice and that helps for maybe the rest of that day, but the next, I am so swollen shut that I can barely swallow my saliva. I am terrified to admit that I may have failed the band, but I play by all the rules, no bread or gummy foods, "chew to goo", no dry foods, small, small bites, nothing spicy, etc., so I don't understand why this is happening to me. I paid for this band out of pocket (and will be paying for it for the next five years), so I am limited on options. I was so hoping to find tips on how to make this thing work. Allergies are an issue for me and I will be taking the other writer's advice on taking a daily pill (thanks:)
Topic: RE: Do you regret the type of wls you had?
my friend lost her hair 4 months after every new baby (she had 3) and it grew back. I know it sucks but I'll will grow back and I think this time it is not from the WLS but from the birth. And, isn't she/he worth it!
