You will be fine - as long as you follow what your doctors say. All of the weight gain and most of the complications are due to not following the guidelines and taking the suppliments (not all of them).

When I first talked to my doctor about this surgery, she said it was like giving yourself a disease in that your life would have to change in order to be healthy. I would have to take vitamins for the rest of my life and I would have to change how and what I eat for the rest of my life.  The success stories that you read out here are from people who took this seriously and did what they were (and are) supposed to be doing.

There is a risk with this surgery, there is with anything - but you can minimize that risk by paying close attention to what your care team says.

Talk to your surgeon about your concerns and how to keep those things from happening to you.

Good Luck!!  And I hope you don't scare yourself out of this!!

It passes and you will have different feelings about food, but you will get to do much more than you think down the road and you will then complain that you hate that you know you can go have a beer with your boyfriend!  LOL!

Just pay attention in a year and a half.  There will come another change.  That one isn't so good, and you won't even know it is WLS related unless you know to watch for it.

I can't discuss on here, but you can email me and I will disuss privately.

OK, Dude.  I gotta tell ya. I liked you in Varsity Blues and all, but come on.  This is gettin kinda sad.

I must say that I had respect for you on the first few talk shows you were interviewed on and I was happy for you and all, but your radio broadcast kinda made me want to poke out my ear drums.  How about not whoring yourself out quite so much? Does every post have to say "I'm an actor..."

There are some people who want to be celebrities , even on OH . We all walk different paths . We don't need to begin our intro by saying , "Hi , i'm Joe Celeb. , I have a radio show , am an actor , blah , blah , blah " . Modesty would be much more helpful .

Hi Angie,
I will be honest with you.... no, I ultimately did not keep my weight off once the band was removed.

My lap band was removed due to slippage (emergency surgery) on May 29, 2008.  I actually lost a few more pounds after the band was removed.  I kept the lost weight off until the end of August, 2008.  Then it was like someone turned the light off.  I have gained 32 pounds in the last four months and I am miserable.

It is a terrible thing to do to the body to put on such an amount of weight in such a short period of time.  All of the things that I thought we gone for good are back (ie., my back hurts 24/7, my knees hurt due to the excess weight, my depression has returned 10x, none of my clothes fit me, my feet and hands hurt all of the time).

I am fighting the insurance company for a revision and I hope to schedule my surgery by February 2009.

Hi Ron Lester, the used to be actor...

I'm Dawn, I used to be a high school student, a college student, a prior Marine, .....oh, we can currently add ***** to that resume too...

I noticed you have put this thread under, Surgery Regrets (???)   Are you regreting that you used to weigh many pounds or regreting that you had your surgery ~ by the way, what kind of surgery did you have?

Just be a friend ~ don't read your resume!!

Ron,

Why can't you just get on here and be our friend without announcing who you are? Many of us on here are very visible in our given fields, but we don't pronounce it. Be our friend, don't set yourself up for ridicule by "introducing" yourself this way.

P.S. let me know if you want the name of a good PR firm. you could use it.

Considering weight loss surgery? Check out the DS first!!

Thank you! I've been thinking about it for a very long time. I got denied on my insurence and in a way I took that as a sign to think more and try on my own more...with all of that time to sort things out...I'm thinking I should get the surgery. It's going to be soooo hard! But I need it.
