Topic: RE: RNY reversal
I am sorry to hear you are looking into information for reversal at this point. But each person and body is different and will respond differently to any one procedure. With that being said, I have been on the boards, researching procedures and surgeons to possibly have the RNY some time this year. Can you please let me know via PM, reply to this or whatever you may choose to what you are feeling at this point? Will it be slow weight loss, the associated pain, restrictions, etc. Please share with me as I have heard many success, ligh changing testimonies after this specific procedure.

Thank you.

I am on the DS board every day - why, are there regrets on there?  I guess I thought maybe they would be under the "Regretting the DS" message board.  Guess not!  Thanks!

Topic: RE: OKAY i am Worried NOW!
I just had my surgery a few weeks ago. I feel fine didn't have any complications during the surgery or even after. I do have one thing though. My doctor did leave a drain. The drain is just to help aid any leaks that are healing. I should be getting it removed pretty soon. Its nothing for you to worry about because not all doctors use the drain. I was just one of the lucky ones. But like I said other than that I am doing exactly what the doctor ordered. I take my vitamins,  calcium , iron,  b12. I drink my fluids constantly and right now I'm on the pureed stage of the surgery. I do try to eat some foods that are soft. Just to see if my stomach can tolerate it. Haven't had a problem with anything. Since the surgery I haven't thrown up not even once. Knock on wood! But haven't. I've lost about 20 pounds in the 3 weeks. Which I'm really happy with. I notice alot of clothes that I couldn't wear anymore are starting to slide right on without struggle. Just make sure you take care of yourself and take all your vitamins and eat your protein. Protein is key in this process too!

Wow - 2 whole days since I last posted on here, and still no one responding with regrets of their DS.  Glad to see it!

Yeah, I'm waiting for the complications to go away.  Things are getting better for me... very slowly getting better.  I'll be 7 months out out this month.  I spent the first 4 months post-op in and out of the hospital, had surgery to repair an obstruction, strictures dilated, malnutrition I fight still, nausea and vomiting that I battle with daily.  But I can say this... my situation is better now than it was even 1-2 months ago.  Things are looking up and I refuse to give up or in to complications.  Find a support group (online, but in person is supposed to be better).  They may not relate to you in terms of your complications but I guarantee they can relate to your feelings and wishing to go back to your old cocoon... being ashamed of yourself or feelings... etc.  Keep on keeping on.  They say it gets better.  Just don't give up!

You will find people that regret every type of WLS.  For me, my band was a Godsend... but then I devloped complications and I had no choice but to revise to the RNY (gastric bypass).  It has been a nightmare since that revision.  The band, my weight just melted off me.  I fell in love with exercise.  I never felt hungry.  It was bliss.  Complications with the band were far  more tolerable than the complications with RNY.  They say it will get better (RNY wise for me) but I still think about how much I loved that band.  I mourn its removal because when I had it (when it was not slipped) my life was wonderful... best time in my life.  If you want to add me as a friend, you can read about my band story then bypass story

I can only say that we were all warned we would be feeling depressed etc.

I can say that you do not mean that you want to  slip back into the old cacoon for protection.

I be you look great with the weight loss and be very proud of yourself as the surgery did not take your weight off YOU DID. The surgery was a tool and you put it to good use.

Good for you.

Keep your chin up . Are you sad and lonely because you do not have a unrealistic challenge any longer to face because the weight is gone?

A few complications is better than a death sentence for sure.

I guess the lack of responses on this post speaks for itself!  I keep going back and forth between the DS and the RNY - and I'm really leaning towards the DS.
