Thanks Elaine, sending best wishes to you on your surgery.  It's such a "trip" for sure, lol; but well worth all the WOWs about to come your way.

I cannot take credit for that quote, I read it in a book and it smacked me across the head.   It definitely does say something for all of us.

Good luck!

"Sometimes the hardest part of the journey is believing that you're worthy of the trip" Unknown

I just wanted to tell you that is the best quote I think I have ever read.  I am scheduled to have the lap band next week and have been on full liquids for 7 days now...I am emotionally worn out but I read that and seemed to feel better instantly.
Thank you for that.

Topic: RE: Anyone regret getting the LAPBAND??

Hi Marion!  I'm so glad that your VSG is working out so well!  I have a few friends with VSG.  Only one is regretting her decision ("waste of money" she put it).  I do wish I got it done instead of RNY.  Yeah, it might have made my reflux worse... but man, my RNY problems suck.  On top of that, I'm not exactly losing a ton of weight like RNY people do.  They say revision patients don't lose weight as much as the first time around.

Things are getting better with my RNY.  Nausea isn't as bad.  I don't vomit daily anymore.  My malnutrition is improving.  My adrenal insufficiency *might* be getting better.  They have to do more tests (there were things that could have made it look like it was functioning... but it might be "waking up" or false hope... so keep your fingers crossed!!)

So life is good with the VSG?  I'm so glad to hear it!  BTW, are you on Facebook?  If you are, will you add me as a friend?  I'll send you a PM with my full name so you can find me!

Hi.  I'm having my surgery in 2 days and was looking at your message. I hope you are doing better.  I was just wondering,  with your inflammation and odd pain....could you have picked up an infection in surgery???  Have they cultured your blood??   Good luck.  Kat

Topic: RE: Regretting the DS

Same question is asked about once every month on the DS board for at least the past 2 years.  (I've been lurking a long time.)

I've never seen a post from anyone that regrets getting the DS.  Even those with complications usually only wish they'd gotten it done sooner.

It's part of why I'm getting the DS in 2 weeks.

Hi

Well I can say life is good now.............but when I had my band back in 2005, first my port leaked and had to be replaced, then much as I tried with lots of fills I couldn't get good restriction, so I believed I was a band failure.   Developed an abscess on my tummy above my port after my last fill in July 2007, and a gastroscopy in September revealed huge band erosion.   The reason that I couldn't get good restriction was that my band had unlocked and just got wider and wider.   It came out in October 2007 and after 10 months I had a revision to a sleeve.   Best thing I could have done - 6 months out my weight is still dropping - 64lbs down so far, and I feel wonderful.   There was a fantastic outcome for me - and wi**** had been so for Alyssa as well - we were both banded within a week of each other.   Good luck ..........and as a final note many of my band friends have done very well with their lapbands.

My mother had her surgery in 1997, her drinking has progressivly become worse every year since then, she cant keep food or anything nutrtious down but wodka stays down just fine. Please understand there is help out there and there is no shame is asking for help, whether in patient or out patient, ask evcery person and professional you can think of, talk to your surgeon, talk to your Primary care Physician, talk to a thereapist, talk to a rehad center, talk to an interventist,

i cant help my mother because she refuses to admit she has a problem and thinks if nobody knows its not a problem, but i live with her and its a big problem. i deal with it by helping others who ask for help.

If there anything i can do please let me know, even if its just to listen or find information for you

you felt you ere worth the time and effort to have the surgery your worth the time and effort to beat this too.

well i do have to say, that right now I feel like I regret my lap band because I have lost only 25lb in 4 months....which sucks. Now I have found out that my band has flipped, so I will need to go under anesthesia again. I look at all the people who had RNY and the quick weight loss, and had a friend who had RNY 1 1/2 months ago and has already lost 25lbs. It is very frustrating to me, but I still do not want to be vit b-12 or iron deficient or lose my hair. I just have to pray about it.
