Devon,
Been there. Know what you mean. Hopefully by now though you've got a few weeks between you and the procedure. I am with you on the Protein shakes. I hated everyone I tried. I still have big jugs of that crap in the pantry that I'm too miserly to throw up because it was so expensive. But I did find a solution. First off for right now you are probably on Liquids or blender food. Don't violate that. You could try some of the smaller capacity yet more vile tasting Protein Shots. I found some that were 42g of Protein that I could barely keep down untill I got off liquids.
THEN I found Quest Bars... Thank god for QUEST. They are the best protein bar out there, and good for you too. 90% of the protein bars you will find are garbage. They mask the whey with tons of sugar or other candybar like ingredients. Read the label closely next to Snickers bar, and your about in the same ball park eating a snickers with a protein shot. NOT Quest bars. They are really healthy. 3 of them will give you your daily requirement of protein, and only about 150 cals each. I eat them everyday still 7 months afterward, one either side of lunch, and after dinner for a desert.
As for the regret in general, you are recovering from a severly traumatic internal event. Your body will get better. How quickly depends on a lot of factors. But overall you will be dealing with a new lifestyle permanently. You might want to check out a counselor. Did you surgeon make you go talk to one pre-op ? They should have. If they did make a followup appt, and go chat with them. It doesn't mean you're crazy or anything, it could help.
At the end of the day, you will eventually be happy you did it. For me it was the first time I walked into a regular clothing store that wasn't for XL BIG BOYS and bought clothes off the rack. Since them I'm sold :) but we all have our own little triggers. When you start losing the weight and feeling better, look for little things that wouldn't have happened if you had not gotten the surgery. Things like the first normal blood pressure reading or whatever. Sometimes when I find myself regretting things it's because I've started taking too many things for granted or ignoring all the wonderful things. It's way too early to have regrets, my friend. You made it through the hardest part.
Debbie,
Sorry to hear you aren't coming out of it very well. From what you are saying about your problems, I'm wondering if any of them are really related to the RNY. Neuropathy is an unfortunate side effect from prolonged high blood pressure and a common issue with Diabetics. If I may ask is the Neuropathy in your feet and legs ? If so that's a dead giveaway. Your other issues sound suspicious as well. Make sure you are seeing a good Diabetic control nutritionist at a hospital that has a program for diabetics and not just going to a Weightloss center. They tend not to be real experts in long term diabetic issues.
I know this post is from quite some time ago but I was wondering, hoping you have gotten to a place where you feel better. Did you ever get the reversal?

Hi Everyone,
I have good days and lots of bad days- I have been diagnosed with Dysautonomia now. I continue to struggle with nutrition intake- am down to 130lbs now. Still get sick lots and can't get enough fluids in- making my dysautonomia much worse. That is why I have those weird episodes I was talking about in my other posts. The pain is excruciating still- no help for it! I am praying to get into a specialist for this condition here, if I can't I don't know what I will do. Since being diagnosed with this I think I had it all along, even before my rnygb, that is the reason my diabetes wasn't getting controlled. I wish I hadn't had the surgery now! I guess I have to live with it as best as I can and for as long as I can- not sure what the future holds now. Take one day at a time. Please really get as much info as you can before going ahead with this surgery- even though there wasn't much info out there for it for diabetes treatment alone- I wish I had did more research and talked to more surgeons/internist/endo's who have had it done on pts. It was a first of it's kind here in Alberta, but I wouldn't recommend anyone else get it done.
Thanks for all the advice though.
Debbie
Have you been feeling any better since you last posted?
I too regretted my wls but there ARE people that do get better with time, and then there are some that don't.
Hoping you are the former rather than the latter

Have you been able to get a takedown or at least eat semi regularly now?
Grace
Hello there Amanda. It's been over two years now and I was wondering if you were feeling any better. I CERTAINLY hope so.

I am soooooo sorry I haven't replied earier. Itching all the time has GOT to be miserable! blech!!!
Not many surgeons are willing to perform reversals and many patients lack concrete medical evidence of anything actually wrong or anything that is connected to the wls to be causing their issues. I had NO medical evidence but LOTS of dr visits and er visits and no real treatments. It can be maddening I know.
PM me if you would like to talk more. I would be more than willing to chat
God I hope you're feeling even a little bit better since this post was made.
