Topic: Health Tracker Updates In Time For The Holidays - Profile Integration and Workouts

Today we released a couple of major updates to Health Tracker just in time for the holidays (as we continue on the path to Health Tracker world domination :). These updates include, 1) Profile display of Health Tracker - If you choose to, you are now able to display/share your Health Tracker within your personal profile. This can be kept completely private, it can be shared with only your friends or with the entire ObesityHelp community. 2) My Workouts - You are now able to build and store custom workouts that can be used over and over again. My Workouts will allow you to log multiple exercise/activity items at one time so you don't have to search for individual exercises each time you want to log your activity or exercise session.

Profile Display of Health Tracker .

The profile display of Health Tracker includes Body, Food Log, Exercise Log and the Macronutrient Report. As mentioned above, this can be kept entirely private or you can choose to share your Health Tracker information with friends, family, your bariatric surgeon or other clinicians.

In order to see the profile view of Health Tracker, when viewing your profile or another member's profile, look for the Health Tracker link to the right of the avatar. If there is no Health Tracker link, the profile view of Health Tracker has been set to private.

The privacy settings for Health Tracker can be found in the "Settings" section of My OH. To access your Health Tracker setting click My OH at the top of any page on ObesityHelp, select "Settings" on the left, click the Health Tracker tab and choose the "Sharing" option. Or, just click here to access your Health Tracker Sharing options :)

Workouts

My Workouts makes it quick and easy to log routine exercise and activity. For those who perform similar exercises on a regular basis, with My Workouts you can create a workout consisting of a series of exercises you often perform and instead logging each exercise indivivudally, My Workouts allows to log a single item (a workout) that contains all of the exericses you have performed. Build it once and log it any number of times.

Under My Workouts you will see a list of workouts that you have created and saved. You can log workouts directly from My Workouts by selecting "I did this", choose the day and click "Save"

You can also search for workouts you have created directly from your Exercise Log.

Create your first workout now!

One other addition

For your convenience, in this release we have also made some changes to the account deactivation process. In case you ever have the need to deactivate your ObesityHelp account, you can access this function by clicking My OH at the top of any page on ObesityHelp, select "Settings" on the left, and under the "General" tab select "Manage". Instructions for deactivating your account can be found there.

Have a great Thanksgiving and look for more updates soon!

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about this release, please post them in this thread on the Main Message Board.

Topic: RE: Has Anyone Had There Surgery Reversed?

Hello!

How are you doing?

Have you made a decision and had your bypass reversed?

I am also considering this and I'm 95% leaning towards doing it.

I noticed that you are in MS and Dr. Richardson did your surgery.

Dr. Lavin is in New Orleans, Slidell, and Mandeville/Covington.  He is a national proctor of laparscopic bypass surgery (meaning he teaches other doctors all around the country).  He did my surgery and I hand picked him over anyone in the USA.  He will do my reversal.  The only other person that I would trust to do it is Dr. Warden -- one of his partners.

Slidell might be a viable option for you.

I live in Houston now and will travel to have surgery with them.  The best team I can garner would be Lavin and Warden (who did my initial bypass).  Having both of them is having the best.

I hope you are doing well.

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

Topic: RE: Regretting the DS
Getting the DS surgery was the biggest mistake in my life.  I had it done on March 4th of this year and was 315.  I lose over a 140 pounds since then and have been miserabel.  I am living on protein bars and boosts drinks with the occassional cheese and herring (not together).   My muscle mass is really low.  I vomit almost everything else I eat and they don't seem to know why, perhaps it is mental.  I had complications after the surgery and was in the hospital for over 2 weeks and even went to the psch ward due to suicidal thoughts.  I am dreading Thanksgiving because I can't eat it, I had chicken last week and vomited for hours.   Yes, I lost a lot of weight and my diabetes is eitehr gone or under much better control but at what cost.  I am going to ask if I can get a partial revision (lenghting the intestine) to help with the excessive weight loss.  I feel like crap all the time.    If I had to do it all over again I would have worked harder to lose the weight on my own.   I really miss regular food and am so damn sick of protein bars and drinks.

Kmodek, I wrote the post you responded to, over 2 years ago now. I had my RNY and my life is fantastic....I am able to eat what I am supposed to and even can have treats now and then. My labs have all been great, I work out take my vits, I did lose my hair for a few months but it is came back and is curly and cute. Sorry your experience or your expectation is so negative. I did not have much pain and was definately a change in my life style but I am one very happy camper and my tool is working for me!!

Even with all the bad things happening, its still better than where I would have been if I had not had the surgery.  I was out of control Type 2 Diabetic, High BP off the charts, High Cholesterol out of control, Asthma out of control, and in so much pain that a wheelchair was imminent.  I still would not have changed the decision to have the original surgery.  While true your surgeon should have fully informed you, some of the things are only applicable to a slight few.  Those kinds of ratios are typically not discussed by any medical professional, unless its relavent.  I suppose relavance of what is important is an individualized issue.  I was in such horrible medical shape prior to my surgery, that these post surgical issues are a piece of cake - in comparrison.

Topic: RE: Anyone else out there that isn't enjoying their WLS?
Thanks for the info.  I have Pepcid that I bought cuz they said we might need it, but I never had any heartburn problems, so I haven't taken any.  I didn't know it would do anything for nausea.

I'm just having a bad day today too...I've been watching tv and crying everytime someone on tv cries...I'm PMS'ing too, which doesn't help!

I always said the reason I did not weight 300 pounds was because I dieted my whole life. I have not eatten a banana split, or icecream sunday because I could not cope with the number of calories they represent. I never ate french fries. My children grew up with a mother who was always depriving herself food. I wouldn't bake because I had no will power. This was the driving factor as to why I had the surgery. I was constantly trying to not gain weight but I was well over 200 pounds anyway.
It is a tool and there are foods I miss, like icecream and cookies,. But I am able to lose weight which I was not able to do before. And for that I am grateful.and I will be forever trying to keep on track. I still slip some days and I will always have to be on top of my game or I could easily gain back what I have lost. It is just as hard as dieting before surgery, but I get results where before I did not.

You are NOT alone! You've found the best website for support and strength through your weight loss journey. I am on here EVERY single day, learning so much about my surgery.

Just try to relax and take a deep breath. You've been given a tool that lots of people are literally fighting for. This will work for you if you let it.

It sounds like you are having a rough time right now, but as others have said, this is completely normal at this stage. Every day will get better for you, I promise! With each day that passes, your new life will start seeming more and more normal. Your vites will be easier, food will start tasting better, you'll be able to eat a little bit more.

On the DS board, we have the 30-60-90 rule. Aim for 30 grams of protein for the first 30 days, 60 grams for the next 30 and 90 grams for the next 30.

Are you taking an acid reducer? That will help a lot with your sick feeling.

Also try to eat yogurt or add a probiotic. Hopefully that will also help you to feel better.

Take care and hang around on the board. Ask lots of questions and know that you are not alone!

Hugs,
Jules
