Looking for a doctor to perform a ruin y gastric bypass reversal. It has been a living nightmare. Many complications. Any suggestions?
I am sorry you are experiencing this. I don't have anything helpful to add except I hope you find help and you have support here.
My name is Christy and I came across your story on one of the weight loss forums. After 11 years of complications from my gastric bypass, I'm scheduled to have my gastric bypass reversed on October 17th at the University of San Francisco. I've been reading everything I can find on the topic but it's such a rare surgery and there's very little information out there. I'd love to hear from you and find out how you're doing now. I'm very concerned about gaining all my weight back and the physical pain I experienced daily from my obesity. Have you been able to maintain a healthy weight? What type of "diet" have you been following to keep the weight off?
Reversing gastric bypass surgery is such a complicated and scary procedure. How do you feel now compared to your pre-reversal days? I'm so sick all of the time and weak from not being able to eat. I hope to regain my health and vitality after my surgery. Have you found this to be true? How is your health now?
I'm really hoping that you haven't changed your email and this letter makes it to you. I really appreciate your feedback and any and all advice and recommendations you give me.
Christy
Hello
I am looking for support or suggestions or just somebody to the same time. I had my surgery July 6th 2009. In the beginning couldn't keep down protein. One year mark needed gallbladder removed. And of course all the little things in between lost my hair, tons of extra skin. Now I have run into something that I haven't heard anyone else have a problem and I need some advice.
35 months ago whenever I would try to eat I would feel very nauseous it started every couple of days then once a day now it's to the point where I vomit everytime I try to eat anything solid. I would constantly start sweating and having the shakes started to monitor my blood sugars they are normal. Originally when I had my surgery in Utica,NY at the time surgery was not offered here in Toronto for me. When the vomiting started I had a very hard time trying to find a bariatric dr. Would expect to be even though I am Canadian they didn't to be apart of everything that was going on since I didn't have my surgery here.
Now I'm at the point where I vomit everything I try to eat I have gone through every single test anyone could ever think of and apparently normal but the doctors don't understand why I keep vomiting or why I get the shakes very badly and start sweating like crazy. In February I finally have a feeding tube put in the doctors still doesn't understand what is going on and ohip will not need to go back to the States to see my Dr.
Has anybody ever had this problem before? I can't continue to live life this way I sleep 20 hours a day and I have to eat with a feeding tube.
My daughter had gastric bypass on 2003 because her dr said it would help with her obesity and illnesses. Not only did she not loose all the weight, she gained it back. But she has had so many more illnesses after surgery! She has been under severe pain for months already and nobody can tell her what is wrong. I researched and many more people that had the surgery have the same problem. The pain comes with spasms all over her body. Please do not have this surgery! I suggest you exercise and follow a diet that will help you loose the weight in a healthy way!
A very concerned mother
Take care

Dear Marietta, I feel for you. I am on Day 81 Post Op. In all of the support groups, talks with dieticians, and meeting with the surgeon nobody talks about the nausea, vomiting, dry heaves, or liquid diarrhea. Not one word was spoken. My life has deteriorated to that of someone who is elderly and dying, and I am a 52 yo man. I feel horrible all the time. Not just part of the time. If anyone ever asks me about it, I always tell them to diet the old fashioned way. This life is hell. I blame myself 100%. I also blame the doctors who bullied me into this surgery.
When I started dieting, I weighed 412 pounds. I lost and kept off 100 pounds on my own. Then I had the surgery. I am now 270 pounds. It is not worth it. No way no how.
I exercise at The Y. I too walk laps in the pool, and swim. I will not do the water aerobics because I am terrified of getting injured trying to keep up.
I regret having the surgery. I regret it 1,000%.
Take care.
Best regards,
Franky
