Topic: RE: How many divorces have come after
Thanks for the response, I hope he stays that way. That is how my x was in the begining. He was wonderful. Then I started wearing clothes in the twentys, he got a little shaky. and then I left the twentys and hit the teens, things got very shakey. Then I hit a size 9 and he lost his dang mind. You should have seen him the first time I put on a 7. I am kinda glad he is gone now because I just hit a size 5 (tight but doable). At the end he wanted me to quit my job and stay on the property only leave the property if he was with me. I didnt go there. I kept my job and lost him.
I do pray that everybody else has a better go with the mate then I did.
Thanks Dana
Topic: Question For Women
Hello! I am 5 weeks post-op on Monday. Thankfully my depression has passed and I have dropped 3 sizes and 36 pounds. However, I have one question. I have been on my period since I was released from the hospital, over a month now. Is this normal? Has it happened to anyone else? Should I be concerned?
Topic: RE: How many divorces have come after
The divorce rate in the US is OVER 50%. I'd guess that post-ops get fed up and know they can do better, but I don't know.
Then again, why would the divorce rate be any different in this population than the general population?
Interesting...

I don't think its just the physical changes that threaten, its all the personal growth we go through. Emmotional, spirtual etc. I have grown so much more than my husband in the past two years, and we were truly growing apart. I am still pre-op, and now we are going to counceling, because I knew so many divorces came out of this. I would have regretted so much losing him because we were growing at different rates, I feel like he's worth the time, and so am I. Luckly though he is my biggest supporter in this, and he seems to listen to all the research I share with him. -Jen
Topic: RE: Has anyone had a reversal of the surgery?
a reversal is totally possible, BUT there are other risks involved. We do them on our unit and out of the 7 docs that we have only one haaas done one that I know of. There are other optiions if you are having problems that are that bad
Topic: RE: Info on ds surgery?
You can find more info by going to the ds board or also going to duodenalswitch.com

Topic: RE: Always HUNGRY!!!!!!
I am 13 years post RNY and my hunger is almost entirely related to how many simple carbs I eat. If I include a little fat and protein in each meal and snack, I don't even THINK about food much. As soon as I start eating...say...popcorn (low fat), low fat potato chips, etc. I get hungry 2 hours later. I feel weak and shaky...not stomache hunger. I can eat oatmeal if I add 1/2oz walnuts, etc. MY best snacks are string cheese, cottage cheese (I like it with sf jello and walnuts), 1 oz of nuts (yes I have to measure!) and Zone Bars. I don't know how many people on these boards are "mature" bypass patients like me, just thought I would share.
Topic: RE: I am scared to death - looking for guidance....
I'm not sure if your reply was really meant for Karen or me, but it's a moot point for me. I was banded 04/14/05 - and must say it was much easier than I expected. No regrets here - except that I didn't do this much, much sooner!!! As to surgery itself, after reading the lapband forum daily for 10 months, I had complete peace going into surgery. While a few people had issues, they were the exception and not the rule. And none of them ended up in ICU....
Thanks for the sage advice for others though.
