Okay Jenni you are very right i so should not be reading that because i don't want to have any second thoughts about this surgery...but being the curious person i am i opened it and began reading... BIG MISTAKE! a strong word of caution...i advise anyone who thinks they may react badly to reading about members who have passed...Don't read that page...i should have listened to my insticts...but i also am still ready. i feel for the families as well..very sad..but i'm still sticking w/ this. it seems alot of the people on that page had the surgery a few years back...things have been perfected alot over that time...in my opinion it is safer now...

Her profile states that she died!
Oh my god...a prayer for your peace Theresa.

Being scared is normal, and you will be scared regardless of the procedure you chose. Reality is, no one can predict who will breeze through this experience and who will hit the roadblocks of complications.
I didn't really consider RNY, for reasons listed on my profile. I chose LapBand because, among many other reasons, it is reversible. That fact was like Dumbo's black feather .. the thought that I had a back door out got me through the surgery. I have not had the first thought of having it removed.
I assume you've done your research .. rely on that. You've done all you can to ensure a good result for yourself. Best of luck to you!

Hi Celi,
Ya know it sure did pass. I guess it was just a faze! I dont get that feeling anymore. I think that I'm getting use to not eating just because. I can't anymore because I will make myself sick! Thanks for your reply. Take it easy!

I am sitting here - one year out - almost to the day. And still regretting having the surgery....I am below my goal weight...and I am sick almost every day. I am also having a real issue with feeling "fat" even though I am not.
Reality is that I NEVER gave diet and exercise a real chance and it is too late now to...

I had wls 19 months ago and if I could loose weight on my own I wouldn't have done this.I was at risk of dying anyways.I was 598 lbs and was stuck in my home for 10 years.I now weigh 277 lbs and I have moved to Md and I am never home.No regrets here....steve

You have to eat to survive. If you choose not to eat properly, other health problems will arise. Follow your dieticians rules. Eat what you are suppose to eat & exercise. And you will be able to maintain whatever weight you want, barring no other physical problems. The one's that re-gain their weight have not follwed the rules, therefore stretching their pouch & gaining weight.
Best of Luck,
Shannon

I have lost a lot of weight, 158 pounds, and I am pleased with the surgery's outcome but I have heard that you can gain weight back after a few years. Since I suffered, like all of us, so much when I was obese I won't be able to handle going back to what I used to be.
I thought that yes one can gain a few pounds back but not a whole bunch of pounds, if this is truth oh geeeeeee! what's the point of the surgery
My problem, I am not eating that much and when I eat even a little bit I think I made a huge mistake and regret eating.....not normal...any suggestions???????
