Topic: Announcing Forum Upgrades!

Its been over six years since we've launched our forums. During this time it has seen thousands of fresh faces, greetings, meetings, partings, arguments, kind words, life transformations, cathartic rants, and simply happy time pass. It has been with us throughout this time, silently observing and facilitating. But like any wise old man, its bones were getting old. Its joints were aching, and it has been needing a new jolt of energy.

A Mobile World
Did you know that over 30% of you visit our website using a mobile device? For those who do visit us via mobile, we owe you a sincere apology, because our forums have been horrendous on a mobile browser. But the big news is that things are about to change! Our new forums are completely mobile friendly and compatible with iPhone, Android, and pretty much any other modern smart phone.

Each post, topic, and forum shows up beautifully, with the full set of features, and in nice large font. See the screenshots for yourself.

You dont have do anything different, just browse to the forums like you normally would. This means that you can finally put these away:

Not Just for Mobile
The interface on your desktop browser has also been cleaned up a great deal. There is now less clutter on the page, and the overall experience is a lot cleaner. Check out some more screenshots here!

You will notice that each post no longer has 400 buttons below it. Only the buttons that are relevant to each post show up, making your screen space a lot less cluttered. Also, when you reply to another person's post, the entire post is indented inside, making it a lot easier to figure out who has replied to whom.

Launching soon! Maybe as early as next week! Maybe.
And do remember that this is not in any way a be-all-end-all when it comes to the forums. We are in the process of constantly learning and improving upon what we have, and this is just one step along the way.

Stay tuned for the changes! We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

Indeed it is a small world. . .  I visited Colorado about 8 years ago, said had I gone there before, I'd have looked to live there instead of this extremely expensive state I landed in after having lived in NYC all my life, and yes, NYC is expensive, but at least the payscale meets the cost of living, whereas in NJ, if you're not a doctor, lawyer, banker, professional athlete or other "professional", you are weighed down with taxes and expenses. . .   oh my, ranting here (lol). . .  it is beautiful though and I think I'd have a hardtime being landlocked, moved down here to be near my son and the grandchildren he and his lovely wife have given me in the past 7 years. . .  all things change. . .  I'm happy to read that you have found a solution that is working and Atkins kind of is the way our bodies work best post-op. . .  protein and low carb. . .

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Thanks, everybody!  I'm on Atkins and losing weight slowly now.  Seems like I went through an AWFUL lot of crap to get where I am now, though...

Laureen, I see your from Maple Shade...I'm from Burlington County...Willingboro, originally.  That was many years ago though when it was a really nice place to live.  I've heard not so much now, though.  My brother retired from the Marlton PD.  I miss the shore terribly!  Small world...

As was already said, you did not fail, your body seems to have a mind all it's own and unless a doctor can tell you what you might do to offset some of the things you HAVE to do, then I say, live life, enjoy each day and vow that while, due to conditions of health, you will do all you can to not gain back that last 50 lbs. . .

Best wishes and hoping that your cancer stays in remission and that you can find peace in knowing you've done all you could.

Topic: RE: Help
Hope you got the help you needed, but the first few weeks post-op are the hardest and many have "buyers' remorse" at that stage, so what you are feeling is pretty normal.  I, too, had hunger pains at around 3 to 4 weeks and I was able to get all my fluids and what not in pretty early, so I felt cheated, as no one I knew ever said anything about being hungry so early out, but we are all different and I was taught to make sure that I was not "head hungry" which is completely different.

I promise that in all likelihood as the results become evident of the newer and healthier you, you will not regret your decision.  I've known some with real complications that have said, they'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. . .  as I said, the early days are the hardest. . .

Best wishes, Laureen

Which surgery did you get? You should post this in the appropriate forum..either VSG if you were sleeved or main forum.  There are plenty of people on there that will give you suggestions for food and for dealing with pain and mental anguish.  Please re-post there and you will get support.  I would love to help but I am pre-op.  No real experience to offer.  The one thing I read by EVERYONE is...are you drinking the right amount of water? If you don't you will feel sick!   Re-post!! and good luck...:)

Topic: Help
I am on week three and struggling! I just don't know what to eat without it stopping right between my breast. Everything hurts going down. I'm at the purée stage and just feel lost. I have even had crying spells regretting this surgery and experiencing mild depression. I too AM experiencing true hunger pains which I have not heard anyone state they are. I simply don't feel like doing anything. Everytime I go walking my stomach swells and then burns. My surgeon doesn't seem overly concerned and tells me to simply slow down a bit. Does anyone have any advice and prayers are always welcomed!
