Good for you. I hope to be as fortunate. I was banded April 5th so am still on full liquids.

Have you thought about counseling? This transition can be very hard.
You need to drink your protein drinks and water, and exercise.
the tool will not do it alone. WLS is a tool not a cure. it is an aid WITh exercise and nutrition. (supplimentation too)
why are you testing your pouch by having sugar in the first place? the more sugar you give your pouch the more it gets used to more and more.
also did you know sugar starts its absorbtion in your mouth?
Please seek counseling to deal w/ food issues and body issues.
Don't give up! you can do it.
are you in any support groups in your area? think about going.
Topic: RE: what is a sticture? im pre op
well if you have a doctor or program that doesn't talk about it, then it isn't a good program.
Topic: RE: was chased away from wls grads???
you posted on the yahoo grads list?
if so, then you didn't read the home page introduction the group is only for post ops at least 1 year out.. though newbies can lurk, they can't post.
I can understand your frustration, but you have to allow Grads the space to talk about other things besides newbie questions. (no offense intended)
If you have questions about nutrition then go to the ossg nutrition list.
Topic: RE: Ins Approved RNY-Regrets not Lapband?
i am glad i had Rny. i've heard of too many people who have revisions from the lap to rny. you can still drink in all of the calories with the lapband.. thought with all of the wls there is a way around them.
Topic: RE: everyone is not a lapaband success story!!!!
I'm pre-op so I'm not speaking from experience, but I wanted to say 'DON'T GIVE UP!'
in my long and varied dieting history, I certainly found that I did better by doing a low carb or low glycemic index diet so you might want to try that. (not sure what Dr Phil's plan is... )
Those 'white foods' like sugar, potatos and breads just made me want MORE all the time. Whereas, if I took the time and energy to fix some TASTY protein recipe for my meal, and only snack on a deviled egg or beef jerky or piece of cheese, then I felt full MUCH LONGER. I know that it's hard to do that when other family members are eating carby things, but it can be done. You might want to wean them off candy and chips too tho, as those things have no nutritional value and no one really NEEDS to consume them.
Hopefully you will soon get the restriction you need and are able to make good choices for your food/exercise regime
GOOD LUCK!
Sally

Topic: RE: Has anyone had Dr.Vaughn?
When I went to see him, he answered all my questions very well. I was just wondering who else had him as their surgeon,I'm nervous I guess. I'm happy for you that you got approved. The reason I went to the Barix Clinics was because they are specialized in these type of surgeries. I personally, don't know anybody that had wls. Maria M.
Topic: Ins Approved RNY-Regrets not Lapband?
My insurance company approved my rny today and all along I had been researching Lapband because I thought I would have to selfpay and that was all I could afford. Now I am not sure what I want. Any Rny patients wish they had gone Lapband or Lapbands that wish they had gone RNY? Kim M.

I just got approved with him today. He seemed great, but I have not had the surgery yet? What are your thoughts. Kim M.
