Teresa,
Thank you so much for your story. The part about wishing you had done this years ago was especially important to me because I am 22 yrs. old and was wondering if I was being crazy having this done so young. My grandmother died of obesity related diseases and I don't want to follow in her foot steps in that department. I am hoping for a Jan. surgery date due to the fact that I am a college student and need to have it done during winter break, or over the summer. Thank you for taking the time to share. Good luck to you and take care!!!

Have you been tested for Cushings Syndrome. I just read an article about a woman who gained weight no matter what she did. A doctor finally diagnosed her with Cushings. This is when you produce too much cortisol. Just a thought to check into.

I had an open RNY 2/13/06 and have to date lost 111 lbs. I was 368 before surgery. i don't regret one minute of this journey. I do look in the mirror and see a little saggy skin but i remember what I felt like and looked like with the 111 lbs on. I would take the sags anytime. And if my husband doesn't like it oh well... I am not even considering his feelings. Because this is about me... ALL ABOUT ME!!!! I am doing this to live longer, feel healthier and eat right. For the first time in my life I am finally taking charge of what I do for me. And that is what it is all about. If you obsess about saggy skin and that stuff that can be fixed after ward you will never take that step.
Hope you understand where I am coming from. Only do this if it is right for you. You will see a psych doctor before your doctor submits the paperwork to your insurance company for approval so talk to him/her about your concerns. It will help.
Good luck and God Bless!
Stephanie

Sara,
I personally have not lost enuff for saggy skin but my sister in law had the open RNY 3 years ago. She is 5ft even and weighed in at 426 pounds. Her docs have estimated that now, at 165 pounds she has approx 50 pounds of excess skin. She is saving for the removal surgery but is really not that displeased. She says she feels better and if she dresses right noone knows LoL.

Hey Sarah...Im in the same place as you. Im terrified of the extra saggy skin, but you know what? I really dont think it can be any worse than this fat. I know I will need a tummy tuck and my upper arms done, but oh well. At least Ill be healthy and thin and able to do the things I enjoy.
I saw you have tattoos and so do I. Im worried about how they will look after surgery. Im waiting to get my half sleeves done after I have my upper arm ps though. It sucks waiting, but I want them to look good.
We are young though and that helps with the skin being elastic. Im sure we will look great after our surgeries!
