Topic: wish I had never had this surgery
Post Date: 10/4/06 10:09 am thank you all for your support......Sometimes I find it hard to be positive. I get so down and feel so sick and in so much pain....I have asked god to help with this mess I created in my body. I did not have to have that surgery but I did and look at what I have done to myself. Icreated this mess and now have no idea as to what I should do to fix it now....I wish I had never had gastric bypass and I wish as many people as I tell would understand it is not always pretty and it does have complications to some people. This ball game I lost at and I admit it but I should not have to keep suffering. Thank you all again for your support Sonn

Stephanie, Just wanted to say good luck and hang in there. I was going to get the lap band and decided a few months ago it is not for me. I am gong to get the RNY, amd will probably have some hanging skin from losing fast, so look at it that way. You are losing slower so will not have that problem. That's a plus right? As far as Vanessa"s post goes I think everyone is being too hard on her, I think that if I were her I would feel the same way. Nobody should ever talk badly about you for opinion. She is clearly upset, and I for one am glad she came here to vent. It is important to not keep it all inside. This is the weight loss regret board, so I think she posted in the correct area at least. I'm glad to here about everyone's experience, good, or bad. I would rather here good though, because I hate to hear that people are not happy. Well. good luck again Steph and keep at it. ~Courtney~

Courtney - Yep, I soooo wish I had had this done when I was your age. Even though I'm a very young 39 (and holding!!!), and hope that I have another 40 years or so, who knows what damage I've already done by being obese for so long. It's hard, too, to try to get into the dating scene at my age - I think I've forgotten how!!! I've got so many "issues" from so many years of obesity, that it's a struggle to see the now me - I still see the before me!!! The one thing I regret is that I didn't document my weight loss as well as I would've liked - take pictures every month, take measurements, etc., it'll be so much easier to "see" your progress. Good luck - hope everything goes well. Please feel free to email me should you have any questions, fears, etc. Teresa

Leatha - Hi! Thanks for responding; sorry it took me so long to get back to you. As far as my "telling jokes," they're not really jokes, per se. It's more my attitude - I try to approach every situation with wit and a lot of times, sarcasm. Sometimes, it really gets me through the day - kind of like chocolate did pre-op!!!!! Just remember, this journey is like a roller coaster - up and down, and you may want to puke, but in the end, it is sooooo worth it!!! Good luck! Teresa

Do not cut back on your calories. This will just make your body go into starvation mode. Increase your protein and veggies and avoid as best you can items with sugar and 'the whites' (rice, bread, potatoes) Imagine your body eating away at itself but if you give it to much sugar or starch it will spend its time burning that and not what is already attached to you. I apologize if i am telling you stuff you already know but sometimes we need a reality check from ourselves. Have you read the 'Pouch Rules for Dummies'?? No offense!! LOL It tells you if you get to a place where you have gained weight to go back to the original rules. No liquids an hour before or after meals.....protein, protein, protein...etc..etc... Just google it to read over and get yourself back on track. Also with all the exercise you are probably all muscle so don't be so hard on yourself if the scale # is not what you like. All the best and let me know if things turn around for you. Jennifer

Thanks to everyone *****plied to me, I feel better knowing that someone understands where I am coming from. There is no way I could get a revision done because my insurance has changed and they don't cover weight loss surgery for anyone no matter what the cir****tances. I also don't really want to mess with my body any more than I have already... I just feel in my heart that I am the one at fault for this because I am not doing the right things. I have not seen my surgeon since 6 months post-op because he really wasn't doing it that way back then. He had no pre-op information and no post-op program at all. Nothing about what I needed to do or eat. I was home from the hospital within 24 hours after surgery and basically told to stick to liquids for 3 days and then I was told I could eat anything I wanted except red meat and I was to chew really well and take a Flintstone daily. I was allowed red meat 6 weeks later. I most likely will not not seeing him again any time soon. I just wanted you all to know that I really appreciate the time you took to let me know that someone cares. Thank you so much and hugs to you all!! Debbie

Hi Helen, your answer to my post is most welcome...I would like to meet someone just as a friend. I have tried so many internet dating services and have some cute stories as results. I am not picky, but selective. I don't want to spend the 'golden years' alone.....My life is complete, but empty, if you know what I mean. I am reading your profile and wish you the best with your journey....it is life changing for sure. If you read all my profile you will understand. There was a time I was saving my money to have a reverse done because I could not deal with all the changes, but overall I am glad to have the surgery.I kept a secret daily journal and there were days that I was so depressed after surgery. the eating patterns that one enjoyed was gone and so were friends. I am at at comfortable weight for me, has nothing to do with numbers or sizes, just happiness within. I will try that websight and maybe I can get a 'nibble' who knows? Thank you for posting! Hugs and love, Marilyn
