Topic: RE: WLS regrets? yes and no.....
Hi Missy, thank you for your kind words, and congratulations on your surgery, 16 pounds !!!! thats great.
I think back to all the positive that I've learned and experienced, its worth it. You are absolutely correct, he being rabbit and running when things got tough. I think what hurt the most was..."I didn't have a clue" and to be honest there were other issues too. Oh well, now is the time to move on, right?
I wish that one could have all the answers before opting for surgery, we jump fast into thinking all our problems will be solved once we get "slim" and sexy, but not so....yes certain health issues are corrected, but more health issues arise from the surgery...as someone said "one addiction is traded for another addiction."
I love to cook, always have ,and when I crave a certain food, I cook and eat it. Problem is, now when I eat that item, I don't want it again for a long time, it usually sits in the frig and ruins. My cravings are still there, but they go as quickly as they begin. The hubby always ate the leftovers, now the puppy gets them and he's getting FAT.
I am content with myself and have a lot to offer someone, I'm still waiting.
I wish you well with your journey, it will be interesting and mostly pleasant.
Hugs and love,
Marilyn,

Thank you for responding. I am in Houston. I really do not have time to get with a bariatric surgeon. I really thought that it was easy to remove the band. what damage are you talking about? Thanks!

You can do several things to get back on track....first start a food journal, you can use fitday.com. Even when you are eating healthy every bite adds up in the end and you may be very surprised. You get your protein, vitamins and water. Remember that as you build muscle it weighs more than fat so the scale won't necessarily move but you do need to measure yourself because you should lose inches. As for the night eating...I would suggest that you get a therapist that can help you uncover the emotional reasons that are causing the problem...not just sleep walking but night eating.
Good luck,
Robin

Was just curious is the doctor prescribed you Ambien for the sleeping pills?? They are finding out now that a lot of people are sleep eating with Ambien. If it's Ambien see if the doctor can prescribe something else like lunesta or something. I personally take ambien for sleep and have no problems but I do know a ton of people that "sleep eat" if they take Ambien.
Just thought I would throw that info out there in case you weren't aware of that!!
Good luck!!

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You will be in my prayers. Where are you now? My new surgeon removed my band when he did my revision to RNY last month. Your doctor will definitely need to coordinate with a bariatric surgeon familiar with Lap-Band to remove your band so there is no damage caused.

Help! I am far away from my original surgeon, and must have my band removed. i have just been diagnosed with extensive breast cancer, and need it out during my surgery next week. The breast surgeon has no idea of how complicated this might be. How did they do yours? thank you. Lynn
Topic: RE: DS - wishing for reversal????
DS was the surgery type my surgeon said would offer me the "most" total weight loss over time, as I'm starting out at 400 +, but that ANY surgery type is simply a tool. Factoring in my age, DS wasn't a good fit for me because I'm just 30 and haven't had kids yet, the malabsorption of DS would be a potential risk for me and any potential pregnancies.
So surgeon and I opted for RNY, and I'm comfortable with my decision - for me, I think it's the healthiest choice.
With either of the surgeries, you still have to do the "head work" of making good choices, limiting portions, and exercising.
I've heard of people revising from DS to RNY - though I won't presume to speak for them.
Bottom line, for me, the deciding factor was degree of malabsorption. If I were older, and weren't looking at having potentially a half-century of living yet to do, I would have gone with the DS. The potential for vit/min defeciencies over time just seemed a bit too high for DS vs. RNY, even though there is that factor in RNY as well.
Take care!

Marilyn dear you are sooo cute. You deserve to be loved for who you are not what you look like. Whether that be big or small. Changes in a persons life will have great impact on any marriage and if he couldn't stick by your side through a good change then you are better off without him. Imagine if something bad happened, he would have ran even faster. You are too cute and too smart for him. You will meet someone, probably when you least expect it. You are right to go for the friendship first and just take it slow and be happy with yourself first and foremost then everything else will fall in place. I hope all works out for you and I will say a prayer for you. Lots of hugs, Missy

Wow crumbs in bed!!!! You are sleep walking and raiding the fridge. No wonder you are not losing weight! Your family Dr. only gave you pills?? You need to see a sleep specialist about this regarding the sleep walking. What does your trainer say about the weight loss plateau?? Eating anything high in salt or retaining water? I had to take a water pill once and dropped almost 15 lbs!!!! I need to avoid salt as you can see. Obviously the trainer will be helping you turn fat into muscle....hmmm.........i hope one of these paid professionals will help you. I just can't believe they are not taking this seriously!
all the best,
Jennifer
Topic: one yr out...
Hi Everyone. I'm a yr out and have not lost any weight in about 3 months or so. I have lost about 75 pounds to date. I started at 370. I started changing my diet to include more protein. I have joined the gym and got a trainer in the last month.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to get my weight loss going again. I'm not eating alot, eating heathly. No fast food.
Still have night time eating. Any suggestions on how to break this habit. My doctor has given me sleeping pills, but I find myself eating and not knowing it till the next day, when I have crumbs in my bed.
I'm also feeling like a failure. Does anyone else feel like this?????
