Topic: RE: None whatsoever
Yes, my post was misinterpreted if that is how you took it. I'm saying that the success of the process in the long run relies heavily on doing your part and having an excellent surgeon. Obviously there are medical complications that we cannot control and to those who have suffered, my prayers are with them. I was blessed to not have suffered, but know many that have.
This is a difficult journey regardless of complications. I'm sorry to hear you have had your share of problems and hope you continue to heal and enjoy your weight loss success.
Topic: RE: None whatsoever
First of all I want to tell you that I also do not have any regrets, that said your post makes it sound like (and maybe you did not mean it this way) if you have an excellent surgeon and follow all the "rules" then you will not have any problems/complications/regrets.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have followed all the "rules" and I have an excellent surgeon. But I have still had complications......... I have had 3 surgeries for internal hernias, I have been in ICU 4 times and have had 14 blood transfusions. In the last 3 years I have had 13 surgeries, not all WLS related but most are.
I just do not want people to think that those that have "issues" did something wrong, because we can do everything right and still have problems.
But with all that I have been through, I would do it again in a heartbeat, but I can understand those that have regrets.

Topic: RE: RNY and Lap-band
I had the lap band put in on 7/13/05 it was removed on 5/31/06 due to medical complications (you can check out my profile if you want more details) I was revised over to the RNY on the same day. Honestly I'm a lot happier with the RNY. My husband has the band and he's doing terrific on it. He lost about 90lbs within the first 5 months and has been maintaining that loss ever since. He had his first fill about a month ago so we'll see how that goes.
Anyways if you have any more questions please feel free to e mail me anytime!!!

Topic: RE: excess skin
I thought the skin issue would not bother me, when I was 325 lbs, I just wanted to lose the weight, and I would worry about the skin later.
Well once the skin started hanging, it really upset me more than I thought it would, but I have since had a lower body lift, and feel great. It was painful but worth every stitch.
Like someone else said worry about one thing at a time, you may be one of the lucky ones that age, and genetics are on your side. I will tell you that I preferred the skin, over the fat.
Hang in there, it will be worth it!
I now wear a size 1 and weigh 115 lbs, so yes it was worth it to me!

It's very Normal what you are asking yourself.........i had the same thoughs.....while you had plenty of time to consider this surgery previously...now is a ride that you can't stop for a lifetime....I'm not going to lie to you...there is more to come...some people are weak... some others are strong.....but it comes down to how well prepare your brain is...... I know your body can take it.......now the question is can your mind take it...???
Good luck......it's not easy, but i'm not quitting now.
Topic: Waiting Again.........
Hello All......I need HELP!!!! In Feb of 2004 I had the Biggest disappointment I think I have ever been through.....I checked into the hospital and got prepped for surgery(RNY)went to sleep and when I woke up in the recovery room I was told the surgery couldnt be performed because of deep scarring on the back of my stomach(due to pancreatitis I had 10 years prior)My surgeon reffered me to another surgeon and he basically told me the rny surgery was to RISKY...I gave up whatever hope I had and life went on....about a month ago my boyfriend saw an ad on TV for the LAPBAND and now I am waiting again to see if this surgery would be right for me because there is no staples........HAS ANYONE EVER BEEN THROUGH THIS?????
