Hi Nancy, I am researching WLS for myself.  Can you tell me what the connection is between wls and hernia's?  It seems there are a lot of post op surgeries for this condition.  Casey

I am definatley a surgery "failure"...That is the first time I have said that out-loud. I am 4 years out in June and I lost maybe 120 pounds in 24 months. I would say I have kept off 50 lbs. I definatley want a revision. I did everything right....exercise, liquid, food intake. I have had major bowel issues since the beginning and since I am not "thin" I regret having had my surgery. I

Thanks to everyone who has had the courage to post here.  These are important topics that anyone researching such an important and life-changing decision should see. I'm really glad I stopped by here to see what other people have experienced.  Not just the thrills but the defeats as well. Thanks again and good luck to everyone struggling hard with their surgeries. Alison

Topic: RE: moral issues with WLS...please help
I understand your concerns because I have been where you are.  I have been placed on the surgery list twice.  The first time, as the time drew nearer, I began to get scared and I did pray about.  For me the uncomfortable feeling did not go away.  In fact, I couldn't even come to this website or even think about the surgery without panicking.  With time, my fears passed and I thought maybe God had just wanted me to wait and I had myself added back to the list.  I began working toward losing weight on my own (I also have an obstacle - I have Lymphedema) and as time went on, I began to get scared again.  Once again I prayed about it and for me the surgery just didn't feel right and I have had my name removed from the list for a final time.  The bottom line is, if you decide to go through with the surgery, make sure it is really what you want to do.  No one can make a choice like this for you.  For me, I am glad I didn't get the surgery.  I have managed to lose over 200 hundred pounds on my own.  I am still a long way way from my goal so I will be starting a new eating program next month (it is similar to the way a person eats after a gastric bypass, but without the surgey) and I will have health adviser helping me every step of the way.  For the first time I am actually looking forward to starting a weigh loss program and I feel confident that I will reach my weight goal sometime next year.
