You obviously believe you are honoring your mother's memory by sounding the alarm bell about gastric bypass. Once again, I don't know what you hope to accomplish by this, but I think your efforts could be better used. Here's what I think you could better use your time doing if you really want to honor her memory: - Start a scholarship fund - Start an exercise and diet program for obese children/young people - Volunteer at an animal shelter, homeless shelter, nursing home or hospital - Help with Meals on Wheels, drive elderly patients to doctor's appointments and to the senior center - Tell people about your mother while you do these things but get off the alarmist stance and thinking you're providing a service when indeed you are not - Stop yelling about ONE surgery that went south and try to focus on something POSITIVE I'm very sorry you lost your mother.  You could have also lost her to obesity, as I lost both the grandparents who helped raise me and were like my own parents.  My grandfather died right in front of me from a heart attack, and he was closer to being my daddy than my own dad.  I was eleven years old.  I know heartache. Please get off the negativity and start trying to do something positive to make the world a better place.

May God help you find peace. I'm glad you're telling people what can happen, because this is very serious surgery with possibility of serious life-threatening side effects.

Topic: RE: just home after rny and having so many doubts .. feel crappy
Hi Lilly I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. It will get better just make sure you take your vitamins and potassium. And remember to sip, sip, sip so that you stay hydrated. Remember to get up and walk around every hr to keep blood clots from forming. Also make sure you get plenty of .  In the beginning it's hard you have a new pouch and it's trying to heal as well as the cut you have on your stomach. Try to think of it as a new born baby learning to eat. You're learning to eat all over again and it's going to take time. I had the wls surgery almost four yrs ago come this Aug. My daughter had the wls this past Jan 7th 2008, at first she said to me "mom what did I do to myself?." I told her that she has to realize that she has a new pouch and life will be differen't now as far as eating. It's a life style change. At first she didn't want to take her vitamins or potassium b/c it made her sick in the stomach however, I coached her and now she's doing much better, she's following the doctor's orders and working out at the gym. It will get better please keep me informed you may send me a message on my profile page I will try and help encourage you as much as possible. Remember we're here for you. Renee

Topic: RE: moral issues with WLS...please help
Sonia, I too struggled with altering my body from God's design. Please read my profile. In it is a scripture (2 KINGS 20: 5-6) that I came across when I was crying out to the Lord about my WLS decision. I feel as if God has given me peace about my decision to move forward. In addition, through that verse I believe that God has shown me that while He can "heal" us with no medical intervention...sometimes medical intervention is needed. I believe that God is going to use me to bring hope and encouragement to others suffering from obesity. If I can touch even one person with God's healing then my suffering will have not been wasted. Most important is to earnestly seek the Lord in payer and do not move forward until you experience peace. I do not mean to imply that you won't have worries or concerns, etc. but you will have peace if it it the right decision for you and you will know if you should proceed. God Bless You, Michol

Topic: RE: wish I had never had this surgery
there are more days than not that I wish I have not had this surgery also, I hate the pain and the discomfort of when I eat or when I don't eat, I hate the way it makes me feel, I hate the comments about how I look now, I hate my new body and I hate all of the feelings that I have about everything.  I share your pain, laughter and tears in this journey and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.  I am not sure what to do either I am thinking about going to a head doctor so I can get my brain wrapped around all of this.  Good luck and best wishes to you.

Be careful with the trainer and gym - it is more important that you are doing strength training to get your muscles stronger, it is nice to do aerobic activities to lose calories but after losing 75 pounds you need to get your muscles in shape too.
