Our bands must be related!! Samehere.. the only thing that consistenly stays down and smooth are chocoloate chip cookies.....and i eat those because by the time my eggs, chicken and fish and greens come up, i am starved and just grabbin anyhting to take away the hunger pains... I lost 30 pounds mostly by letting a 25 year old personal trainer beat the pounds off of me 5 days a week....but whrn i stopped 20 of the pounds came back... i physically could not keep up that pace and work and spend time with the kids and LIVE!!!  So i am scheduled for a revision to the sleeve at the end of this month and I could not be happier......  Good luck....

Hiya, Elaine, Just wondering how you're doing these days!  I've been a slower loser, so I know how you feel.  I'm hoping things picked up some after your last post! Lisa

Honey, I'm so very sorry for your loss, and THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your story!  People need to know that these awful things can happen, and you are ABSOLUTELY entitled to give your opinion about WLS, even to the point of suggesting that people should avoid it.  NOBODY has a right to  tell you to feel differently, given what you've been through. It's true that in the majority of cases, WLS can be a life-saver, but if it goes wrong, the patient can be a whole lot worse off than being obese.  People need to be aware of this, and factor it into their decisions.  (I chose to have VSG knowing the risks, and blessedly it went well.  But if it had gone badly at least I went into it with my eyes open.)   And I'm so very sorry that some folks here couldn't respect your feelings and your right to your opinions, and had to lash out.  Be assured it had nothing to do with you or what you said.  The negativity and anger is entirely on their part, and it says everything about them, and nothing about you.  My prayers are with you and with your family!

im getting sick to my stomach reading some of the replies to this post. alarmist or not, you just don't act like a jerk to someone who just lost their mother. that's like someone trash talking our soldiers fighting across the seas in front of the family who has a loved one in the service over there fighting. your entitled to your opinion but it's just common sense and respectful to SHUT THE F*** UP when in the presense of them. it makes you look like an insensitive @$$h0le, especially with a real rich one-liner like "i could care less how you feel" well guess what hunny bunch, i'm sure your hostility is a result of people in your pathetic exsistance not caring less how you feel aswell. did you grow bitter from the loss of yours or something? seems like it. i pray for people like you, who have nothing better to do with their time than to dig up old posts and all that crap. and guess what? i don't care how old your threads are or your replies, i'm going to say what i said even if your post is 5 years old. and to the other real prize who said something like this poor girl could be doing something better with her time, well wouldn't that go the same for you? maybe exercising? and have you done any of those things you suggested? i highly doubt it, you know why? because the types of people who DO do those things would never come to a post like this and say anything that could be taken in an insensitive manner. now, to the original poster, thank you for posting your story, it took a lot of courage, and i am so very terribly sorry for the loss of your mom. i appreciate it and god bless you, aswell as the others that have replied to this. they need it.

i too am so sorry to read this. for different reasons i know what it feels like to have life interrupted because you're so afraid. i dont have much help to say except i recommend seeing an endocrinologist (sp?). mine is great and she told me health pros are just now starting to catch on about this issue post-op and how to roll with it or prevent it or help it or whatever they do. i myself am insulin resistant and even now, pre-op, sometimes have low blood sugar, and my endo warned me about severe drops after surgery because of what it does. anyways good luck and throw your fear up to god and pray for him to ease it, thats all i can say because im doing the same. much love dear.

Well said Jennifer. I too don't care about the date on the post. To tell this woman she has an agenda that is wrong is stupid, insensitive, and purely selfish. Her story is her story. She has all the rights in the world to tell people to think twice, think three times, and think four more...the fact is if you don't think you can end up in a bad way just for not thinking! God bless you and your mother. I pray for peace in your home.  I pray for the idiot that judged you in the responses. What goes around comes around.

Topic: RE: Does anyone wish they had never gone through WLS?
Hi Megan, I had an RNY in 2000 and lost 130 lbs. very quickly.  I kept it off for two years and then have been regaining the weight ever since.  Now, eight years later, I have regained 40 of the 130 lbs I lost.  It is truly heartbreaking for me, but I STILL would have gone through with the surgery if I had known this would happen. What I didn't know is that the "pouch" inevitabely stretches again over time so some weight regain is inevitable.  Would a Lap Band have been better for me?  Maybe, but who knows? My only (unasked for) advice is to truly take a good look at your eating.  Is this a problem you could get a grip on without the surgery?  If so, give it ALL you've got, girl!  If you believe that you will only be able to get a grip on your weight with the surgery, then go for it, but remember that your eating problem will still be there after the surgery.  You will STILL need to do whatever it takes to get a grip on it if you want to keep the weight off.  My mistake was to rely on the surgery to keep me thin.  Little did I know that after each meal, my pouch stretched just a teeny tiny bit, and I could therefore have one or two mouthfuls more the next time. I am now dealing with my eating addiction and have decided to get a lap band put over my pouch (RNY) so that I can adjust it as my pouch stretches and hopefully keep the weight off. Only you can know if WLS is for you.  Just go into it as a LAST resort, not a first one.  Also, whether you get the WLS or not, know that your eating problems will still be there waiting for you until you finally deal with them and put them to rest. All the best with your decision.  We all support whatever choice you make! Zena
