Expect regrets? What SHOULD I expect?
I had my WLS (RNY) just 4 yrs ago and since that time I have NEVER had one single regret that I did it. In fact, it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I got my life back. I wish I had had it done in my younger years as you are doing. I am 50 y/o now, was 46 at the time of my surgery. But, although I was older when I had it done, I feel like some of my youth was given back to me. I am able to do things now that I never dreamed of....and the clothes...oh my GOD...it's great to buy all those great clothes again! I'm sure you'll be fine and I'm sure if you do have any regrets at all, they will be short-lived! Good luck with the surgery and with the rest of your wonderful life! Phyllis
Brandy,
Congrats on your surgery date! I wish I would have had the opportunity to have this surgery at 18. I wish you best, I'm sure you'll do great. I'm almost 5 months out and don't have any regrets, but I did want to tell you one thing that I wish I had expected. I was HUNGRY for the first 2 months. It was head hunger, not physical hunger, but it was very real to me and sometimes very hard to deal with. It did go away in the 3rd month when I felt I could eat something substantial (still only about 2 1/2 oz. but I felt full). So be prepared for that if it happens to you. I now feel full and satisfied when I eat, but for awhile at the beginning I felt physically full and couldn't eat anymore but I didn't feel satisfied and always wanted to eat but couldn't - very frustrating. I was worried that I would always feel that way, but it passes.
