What about Lap Band people???
I've been reading up on WLS before making that final decision and I'm going with Lapband. Too many have said they have had some serious problems with RNY and I know some people personally that have died from it. I thought maybe since it had been a while since they had their surgery that RNY isn't as bad now but I've still read about a lot of problems on the mainboard. About the only few things I've read on the Lapband board is where some have eaten too fast/too much and PB'd food. And the fact that any weight loss the first 6 weeks is a bonus because you haven't been restricted yet. Finding the sweetspot, right amount of restriction, can sometimes take several trips to the doctor. But I haven't read yet of anyone being in the hospital for days or months due to the band. So I'm thinking the Lapband is for me!
I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A NY MINUTE. I LOVE MY LAP-BAND !!!!!!! THE BEST THING I EVER DID FOR MYSELF !! LIFE IS EXACTALLY THE SAME EXCEPT I EAT LIKE A THIN PERSON.....THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING LEFT ON MY PLATE AND I ALWAYS COME HOME FROM A RESTURANT WITH A DOGGY-BAG !! KNOWING THAT I CAN'T EAT ALOT, I NOW SEEM TO ALWAYS MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES.........THERE ARE NO VITAMIN ISSUES WITH THE BAND IF YOU EAT HEALTHY BECAUSE DIGESTION IS THE SAME AS PRE-OP..... 8 WEEKS AND 26 POUNDS !!
I was asked this same question just the other day..and my answer was and always will be, I would do it over 100 times..it is the best thing to have happened for me..I am now 6 months post up..I started out 326 post op, and now 228...yes I jump for joy everyday, my twin sister was lucky enough to have just had it on Wensday
Sherry, I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't judge the ppl who had the RNY because it has to be a decision that you make yourself. For me, I couldn't have done it any other way. I had a fear of waking up after surgery, I also had a fear of not being able to keep my proper nutrition, and I also didn't want to wait to try to concieve and I also knew that if by some accident, I got pregnant sooner than planned, I wouldn't have to worry about feeding myself or the baby. I could also have the fill taken out if needed so that I could eat more. If push came to shove and something was dire, I could always have the band removed. I hope that helps. Kim
Like everyone else. You will have to kill me twice to get my lap band back!
I love it, its done wonders for me. i do envy the quick loss of the RNY people. But i dont regrett my band and never have. I was banded on Jan 5th and im down 48 pounds. I work out and my skin tone is pretty good.
Thats one of the atvantages of losing slower.less chance of sagging i think.
Good luck in whatever you chose.
The only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner. I'm a diabetic and have a heart problem, high blood pressure. Now I'm off the blood pressure meds, and most of the diabetic meds. My enery level is up. I can walk the malls again without stopping. This is slower weight lose then the other surgery, and at times I envy the quick weight loss others have, but I enjoy knowledge that I will be healthy and thin again. If at any time for health reasons only if the band had to be remove it could be.
We all have had the weight loss surgery weather banded or rny,to better are health. Lets all band together as wls people to support each other.I have chosen this way for me, and others have chosen another way.
May God bless us all . Carol
