I am pre op and am also interested in hearing any regrets people may have. I did read the previous post and reply's. I thought mabye someone would have something else to add! I have heard many say its the best thing ever! Please let me know what you would have done differently. I also gather that the 1st month is yucky. Any advice on getting thru it?? Thanks Chris

This is a reply to a request for my opinion. Two years out I've lost all my weight. However, I suffer from a very painful peripheral neuropathy. This condition was, somehow, caused during the course of my surgery. I would recommend these tips: 1. Go over EVERY risk step by step and body system by body system with your surgeon. Nobody did this with me and I was so anxious about the surgery I didn't ask. 2. Be CERTAIN the facility is equipped to handle your weight. I believe the Hospital did not have proper equipment for my surgery. 3. Make SURE you understand how you are going to be "put under". I was not told I'd be intubated awake because of my weight. 4. PLEASE be sure you have tried every thing available before surgery. It was the biggest mistake of my life because I traded one bad condition for one horrible condition. Reece [email protected]

Hello Chris -- Thank you for the wonderful email you sent in reply to my posting news of insurance coverage. Like yourself, I question WLS as the best thing for me and my family. Given that I am new to all of this I don't have any words of wisdom to share other than to continue your search for knowledge so that you will be able to make a fully informed decision. Please keep me informed of your status. FYI, in answer to the question you asked in your email, a theist is a person that believes in a God and I am from the secular humanist perspective which looks to science for the search of truth rather than faith. I am very fond of the teaching of Jesus, but do not believe he was God. Yet, the teachings of Jesus and other such leaders are a source I often turn to for many of the questions I have about how to live a life which places the needs of other before your own. Thanks for the question and email. You will be in my thoughts. In Peace and Justice, Lance

I had complications after my surgery.......... I was like what did I do......... I ended up with a leak and thought I was going to die! After all of that I would do it again! I feel so much better today then I use to feel! Anything you do in life is going to be a risk.......... I would take the risk again just to feel better and live my life! I can do so much more now and have so much more energy! Good luck with your journey hun!
