Any tips on non-jumpy appetite control thing out there

Exercise is fine and regular. The hunger is the monster. Protein or not.

Low carb long time... frequent meals - every 2-3 hrs a small snack will keep the hunger away

Artificial sweeteners - are known to cause hunger, same with SA - at least for me.   Dense proteins - with non-starchy veggies - not only that stabilize my hunger - but long term - allow me to forget about food. For me main issue was to eliminate food with gluten  - it was an accident - but worked better than expected. 

That and liquids in between meals.

If you had RNY, then your stoma could be stretched. Something to check into.
