7 months out frome RNY reversal
I origninally had my RNY bypass in April of 2009. I was great for three days and then bam!!! i just started getting sick. Starting to have a lot of problems that people talk about here. For months all my doctors told me it was in my head.
Finally in August i had a doctor who figured out that there was a problem wrong with my pouch. By that time i was so malnourished they couldn't do anything for fear that an operation would kill me. So of course i did the constant in and out of the hospital, living on the IV, needles stuck everywhere.
In October, i was borderline, but enough for him to operate on me. He said he could fix the pouch or do a reveral. I had lived in misery throughout the whole year i just wanted a reversal. Of course we went through the whole you will gain all your weight back, but i didn't care.
I had the reversal and the next day when i woke up i could tell i felt 10 times better. Then hen i was able to sip water or eat jello and it stayed down, i just cried i was so happy.
I came here and talked about my reversal, and now it has been 7 months.
When i had the original RNY my weight at the time of the surgery was 237 lbs
My weigt at the time i had the reversal was 173 lbs.
My weight now is 155 lbs. I have continued to lose weight (my doctor is shocked). I exercise on a daily basis, i watch what i eat (but can eat just about anything, just chose not to LOL). The weight loss at this time is slow a pound here, 2lbs there, but i am okay with that.
I am so so so glad i had the reversal. I have never been happier and i am enjoying life.

I am so sorry you suffered through all of that! I can honestly empathize with you. When I had my bypass, I lived with nausea everyday and some pain thrown in here and there, not to mention the many complication surgeries until it nearly cost me my life. I was so out of it at the time, I was taken into the OR and they performed the emergency reversal. Since then, things have only gotten worse and the weight has come back. It has been a complete spiral downward. I, like your doctor, am shocked that your weight has continued to go down, but I'm elated for you too. I was exactly at your weight and am again at that weight. It took only 12 months to get back to 237. I am broken. The docs that told you that it was "all in your head"... I can't believe that. My father is a physician and he was so frustrated with my original surgeon that he couldn't believe the lack of compassion or caring.
I'm just so glad that you are ok and that you are recovering and so thankful that your weight has continued to go down and not back up.
Best wishes to you,
Melinda

i am sorry to hear about that. I know it is frustrating. 99% of my time was spent in one hopsital or another in 2009 it was draining (and i think made the whole situation worse). But yeah since my reversal i have continued to exercise (martial arts, dancing and swimming). I maintained at a while at 152 lbs (that is with eating sweets), but soon as i knock the sweets out, i start to loose again. Now i am at about 144-146 (i fluctuate).
Yeah, the whole it is in your head nope, that really pissed me off.
