Has anyone had RnY after having Thyroid cancer and surgery? I had thyroid cancer in 2000, thyroid taken and parathyroid was damaged. Now have to watch calcium levels very closely. I'm curious if anyone else has ever had this after having issues like this to begin with. Worried that the malabsorption will be too much to handle.

Also curious if the surgery helped spontaneous bladder issues?!? (problems when you cough or sneeze)

Thanks for all your help!

I can't speak from my own personal experience however I did have a coworker who chose the lap-band because of the same issues you are speaking of.  She had a thyroidectomy as well.  I don't believe she ever really considered the RNY as she was very afraid of dying from it.  She is over 4 years out and looks great!  It took her a little longer and she had some band adhesion problems and needed a revision.  She has said she would have the RNY if she needed to have a revision again.  Just from the mouth of a coworker.......it's all I have for you on that topic.

I am no longer having my little dribble problems I had before surgery....
