Im ten weeks out from RNY. I have not had the luxary of no hunger. Its honestly not head hunger. I was doing pretty good for a couple of weeks then all of a sudden i cant eat anything without it hurting or feeling like i have to go to the bathroom and gag till it comes back up and most of the time it doesnt come back up. I got up this morning and tried to do just a protein drink and even that didnt sit well. I have lost 36 lbs and I realize my bmi started at only 40.1but im just very down and discouraged right now. Im afriad to eat because there is no safe choice for me right now. Please help me. My thanksgiving was sunday and the turkey almost killed me. I figured it was one day so I did eat some stuffing , that went down fine, imagine that? Bread? The depression is really bad and when I get depressed I want to eat. I thought I was on the up swing of this thing then came the food problems and thanksgiving leftovers that i have not touched but they are driving me crazy, esp the stuffing lol.

You should get checked out by your Dr. if you are having these kinds of problems. It could be ulcers or a tight stoma. But stop obsessing about holiday foods and what on earth you are going to do for the holidays. I have been on several of the boards tonight, the night before Thanksgiving, and the common them seems to be "poor me, what will I do without my holiday favorite foods?" It is just food for Pete's sake-there is more to the holidays than that, and it is only one holiday season out of your whole life. Next year will be much better, and you will feel great and look great too! Just let yourself heal and just enjoy being with family and friends at this time of the year. Eat to live, don't live to eat.

I noticed on your post that Brad Needleman was your doctor. I live in central Ohio and in the process of getting the WLS ball rolling. I was wondering about your experience with DR. Needleman and your care at OSU. i know some ppl had their surgery at OSU some good experiences and some bad. Also I'm wavering between lap band or RNY. By the way I hope you are feeling better.   Thanks

Hi Dawn
Yes Im feeling much better. Im now 4 months post op and down 54 lbs. Dr Needleman is a real sweetheart. He has a great bedside manner. He office is a very busy office, but everyone there has been very nice. Most of the time if I have a problems I talk to Kathy Foreman his nurse practitioner. She is really good about returning phone calls even if its 6:30 at night. They took care of everything for me as far as insurance goes. They fight the battles for us. I chose RNY because I was afraid that I would cheat with the lap band because I have a really bad sweet tooth and I love junk food. Im 47 yrs old and i didnt want to wait up to 3 yrs for my weight to come off. Dr Needleman also said that most people have better luck with keeping the weight off with RNY. There are days that I would love to have a donut, but I dont because I know how bad it would make me feel. As far as recovery, it was easy. Pain wasnt bad. I had a hysterectomy i***** and it was much worse than the RNY. I hope i have helped you out some if you have any other questions at all please feel free to email me. Also KathyOH that is in chat almost daily had Needleman as well and feels the same way as I do. Good Luck!
