Hello All,

I am feeling REALLY crappy right now.  I went for an endoscopy yesterday for this severe burning and irritation i have in my "stomach" .  Well it seems that my stomach is fine, there is no irritation, but my stoma was huge.  Its was almost the size of the pouch itself.  Now I am reading about 2 ways that they fix the stoma but I don't want anymore surgery.  I just don't I am sick of it.  People left and right who have the surgery are fine, but me .... no.  I have had trouble with it from the beginning.  FIrst  I had esophageal spasms (OH MY GOSH THEY ARE PAINFULLLLL!!!) then I had severe acid, now I come to find out my stoma is huge, and I am going to require more stuff I cannot afford.  People tell me its because I drank diet soda on a year out of surgery others tell me its because I overeat.   well....I overeat cuz the food doesn't stay in the pouch, it just goes down, and I am constantly hungry.  Does anyone know why the stoma enlarges?  PLEAse help, I am becoming depressed and desperate.

I'm 1 year out and I find I can eat a whole lot more lately. I still eat mostly soft foods (slider). I too was wondering if my stomach or my stoma has stretched. How is the stoma fixed?

HI!  I am 7 years out and 3 years ago had a baby ( 9lbs and 2 weeks over due) I was huge and that caused increased acid reflux to the point of nausea...Self treatment, is carbs and I went into a circle of carbs @ night.  I am not sure if any of the above lead to my stoma being enlarged but it causes me to have acid reflux all the time.  I went to a new Doc who mentioned Stoma Fix surgery....I am hoping it is the answer from this acid not to mention I was successful in my weightloss ( 100lbs lost) but I have some post baby weight gain of 30lbs that I just can not tak off.  I feel like I did this surgery to better me and make me more successful but it seems a struggle more and more with out results...

HI Deedee-
I can understand the depression and weight gain...its all a circle.  Tomorrow I go back in for a hernia repair to help with the left side stabbing pain.  I hope this helps!  They will not fix my stoma opening which bugs me...one obstacle at a time!
Good luckk

Hello my name is deedee, I too had the same problem, I don't know why the stoma enlarges but I just had a procidure to close it up some for the second time. Once in March and this past week.
I was staying hungry all last year did not know what was wrong, had acid reflux, the acid refux made my asthma flair up in and out of the hospital for my asthma, on steroids made me eat more I gained 100 pounds, I'm pissed and depressed , I feel like I did this for nothing, now it's like I have to start all over again, now I have to work harder than ever to get back to where I was, even after the scleratherapy sometimes I'm hungry, and on top of all that I can basically can every thing I could before surgery including most sweets, I wish I could'en eat curtain things but I can. All and all it helped for two years then I was hungry a lot. I know this might not help but If you can have it done before you gain to much weight back, it is harder to lose, like you never had surgery.

wright me to let me know where you are with this.
