Hello Everyone,

If I get the cardiologist's blessing this Tuesday, Dr. Caruana will perform my RNY (open) at Sister's Hospital, Buffalo on Wednesday, October 8th.

I'm 90% excited and 10% scared.  I'll be 65 years old in October and I sure don't see many women my age on these pages.  For a number of reasons, my family and friends will not be available to come see me while I'm in hospital.  I know it will be lonely, but I'm prepared for that.  Instead of going home to an empty house immediately after discharge - I live in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada - it has been suggested that I spend a few days or a week at one of the post-acute centers in Buffalo.  I have chosen Legacy in Williamsville.  I hope I have made the right choice.

I'm so glad I found this site and will be thrilled with any support you can give me.  :-)

Hello! It is October 8th, and I have just finished reading your post. Your surgery was today!!!! I hope that you are doing well!!!

I am 60, actually I will be 61 in December. Weight has been a struggle to me all of my life. I am waiting for a surgery date for RNY at Travis AFB in CA.

I just wanted you to know that you are not alone in this! And I also wanted you to know that someone thought of you on your surgery day.

Love to hear how you are doing when you are home again - or even sooner if you feel like it and can get to a computer.

I am 48 and two years out.  It was one of the best decisions I made.  I just saw your post and hope that you are doing well.  It is Saturday and I hope all went well.  I am usually on the SD board but will check in here to see how you are doing.  Please add me to your friends.

Hope you are continuing to do well after your surgery.  I am 65 also and was glad to see someone my age having the surgery.  I thought I was pretty much the "oldster".  I am having my surgery pretty soon, perhaps right after Christmas if all the remaining 2 appts. come quickly.  I am ready, but am a bit worried about how all will go.  I guess that is natural.  Have read responses from some who wish they hadn't had it done, others that had reversals, but most are happy they did it.  Have friends and relatives who have done the rny and are not sorry.  One friend has gained back 50# but is still a lot less than she was and said she is just making bad choices.  Have to stay on top of things once you lose the weight.  My cousin said she plays with 2#'s but no more than that.  Do let us all know how you are doing.
