Question: Dumping vs Stomach Virus

Hi all, I need you guys to be really honest with me.  I'm pre-op RNY and just had the Stomach Virus that's been going around. I had high fever, chills, sweats, vomiting and diarehea AT THE SAME TIME, and bad pain in my joints and legs. It lasted 2 days and I'm 2 days later still recovering from the weakness. Is this what dumping is like? What's the difference? Because I just can not in my right mind sign up for something like this! Please be honest! God Bless You, Barbara

this link explains dumping. I have only experience it once when I ate fried fish without the batter. The episode last about 4 hrs. Severe intestional cramping and disentary. My nut said that dumping helps to reinforce the need to make healthy choices and keep us on track.  I think most patients 2 - 3 years out have less problems with it.  http://www.asbs.org/html/pdf/asbs_bspc.pdf This site is also a wealth of information on life after rny: http://www.renewedreflections.com/forums/ Good luck with your decision. I have no regrets having had WLS.
