Not exactly true based on your original post:

gastric bypass surgery dr. barker of north texas performed. Not only did she die but she suffered a very long death because of it. If you are thinking about getting the gastric bypass....think again...please, ask any details you want.
You stated very clearly to "Think again" if considering this surgery. That's not the words of someone who is "only trying to give people warning signs to look out for once they do have the surgery". Two different agendas. I think your first post makes it clear what you're trying to do by posting. If you have a valid point to make, use facts. But trying to scare the crap out of people because you are upset your mother died after this surgery is no way to go about it. Again, I'm not attacking you, just confronting your use of emotionally based information and lack of true medical facts that explain your mother's death. In what direct way did WLS cause your mother's death?

Omigod, shut up. Her mom died. Nice way to pour salt in the wound.
It's funny how people say things like, "No offense but...", or "I'm not attacking you but..." just before or immediately following either offending or attacking someone. If you don't agree with what she has to say, fine. There are other places here to rant without hijacking someone's post about their dead mother. NO OFFENSE but you're making yourself look like a mean-spirited jerk.

Your profile says that she had 80% of her pancreas removed, and then it was removed completely at a later time.
The only information you give prior to that is that she was hypoglycemic. There's a lot of information missing that would account for having part of her pancreas removed.
BTW, I work with a pancreatic cancer organization, (due to 5 deaths in my family from PC) and in the case of hypoglycemia, a portion of the pancreas would be removed if there were a tumor or in the case of Nesidioblastosis, enlargement of the pancreatic cells that make insulin, is treated by partial removal of the pancreas. The removal if the entire pancreas doesn't make sense in this case.
As for your statement that you don't visit this board very much, you've managed to be here rather quickly in order to reply to this thread, and you could easily cut and past your story here if you felt the need to warn people.
I'm not picking on you, but I don't care for alarmist behavior. There are people who NEED this surgery and who can easily be scared if they see this sort of thing and they don't take into account the missing pieces of your story.
It's important to have ALL of the information in order to make an informed choice about surgery. While I'm sorry for the loss of your mother, I am not her...and my situation is drastically different from hers, so being 'warned' by someone in a completely different situation is mute.
Simple: Get all the facts before having any surgery. Make informed desicions, not emotional ones, when it comes to your health.

First off, this convo ended days ago, so you're a bit late in the reply.
Second off, I'm not attacking anyone, I'm asking legitimate questions of someone who is sending a strong message "Don't have this surgery" without backing it up with facts. I have all the sympathy in the world for the loss of her mother, but this post isn't about sympathy, it's about a warning to others, and I AM one of those people who are contemplating surgery, so forgive me if I have honest questions and would like to have educated answers and not emotionally based statements.
If she simply wanted support for the loss of her mother she can say that. I'm one of the most compassionate people you will ever meet. BUT, her original post, before editing, was a WARNING to all pre-op people to not get this surgery. And hell, if someone is going to WARN me not to get a life-saving surgery (and in my case it is) then I'd like to know WHY.
I don't care if you think I am polite or not. You don't know me.
Maybe if you had read her ORIGINAL post and not the newly edited one you'd have a better understanding of what this was about.
And if you find it upsetting, then there are many other posts for you to read here. You're welcome to block me if you find my posts so rude. I could seriously care less how you feel.
I have to say that I have been an official member of this web site since 2003.
I have also been a member of the yahoo group about gastric bypass surgery that goes "wrong".
There are people who have gastric bypass through no fault of their own that do have the complications and serious side effects and terrible consequences of the surgery.
Are there complications of any surgery? Of course there are.
However, these significant complications are directly related to the procedure itself.
I have also read from people on this site and many others who quite literally post their long list of health problems and then say that they do not blame the surgery at ALL and they LOVE THEIR SURGICAL procedure. Low blood pressure, severe hypoglycemia, hair loss, teeth loss, the list is endless.
When is the last time a laparscopic cholecystectomy had teeth loss, hair loss, and resultant hypoglycemia?
I think what I have noticed is that there are some people who hated so badly being obese or fat that they would not THINK of blaming or criticizing the surgical procedure that produced their life long dream of being that thin person that society loves, that society accepts, and that people respect. They would not THINK of saying one negative or bad thing about the "surgical procedure that they love and adore". Or the surgical procedure that made them feel so much physically better and emotionally better.
So, when somebody else lists the complications of the surgery being death, severe malnutrition, hypotension, or any other problem it is like you called their child or mother an UGLY STINKING HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING.
It is defensive. It is intolerant. It is dishonest. It is selfish.
Share your successes! Share your personal stories! But, have mercy for others who did not have the outcome that you had, and are not in love and adoration of their surgical procedure.
Pride comes before a fall.
