wasted time
Kmodek, I wrote the post you responded to, over 2 years ago now. I had my RNY and my life is fantastic....I am able to eat what I am supposed to and even can have treats now and then. My labs have all been great, I work out take my vits, I did lose my hair for a few months but it is came back and is curly and cute. Sorry your experience or your expectation is so negative. I did not have much pain and was definately a change in my life style but I am one very happy camper and my tool is working for me!!

My medical program told me flat out. Their stats, after doing WLS for many years, are 50/50. 50% regain, 50% are able to maintain a major weight loss. It comes down to what the person does with their tool. It is possible to "eat around" any WLS, and gain weight back. That's why we have to be dilligent in fighting it. Obesity is a lifelong disease that we will never be cured from.

I always said the reason I did not weight 300 pounds was because I dieted my whole life. I have not eatten a banana split, or icecream sunday because I could not cope with the number of calories they represent. I never ate french fries. My children grew up with a mother who was always depriving herself food. I wouldn't bake because I had no will power. This was the driving factor as to why I had the surgery. I was constantly trying to not gain weight but I was well over 200 pounds anyway.
It is a tool and there are foods I miss, like icecream and cookies,. But I am able to lose weight which I was not able to do before. And for that I am grateful.and I will be forever trying to keep on track. I still slip some days and I will always have to be on top of my game or I could easily gain back what I have lost. It is just as hard as dieting before surgery, but I get results where before I did not.
