food for thought
I was hypersensitive to anything having to do with food for the first couple of weeks out. When I had my RNY in 3/05, Burger King was introducing some massive breakfast sandwich (surprised I can't remember now EXACTLY what it was! ) and sitting in the hospital post-op, those ads drove me NUTS. They were on every channel! Then when I got home, I found myself landing on the Food Network constantly and watching lots of that.
For me, there was no nausea or pain post-op to speak of (little gas), no trouble keeping foods down at all. I considered that something to be thankful for, considering the troubles I knew others had. I didn't get any sense of satiation for several weeks, until substantial proteins were added to the diet (minced chicken, beef, fish). I felt very hungry most of the time, starting in the hospital post-op, and that was rough.
These things worried me also, and I was afraid they were signs that this was going to be just like every other way I tried to lose weight, failure. But I ended up doing just fine (details in my profile). Hang in there, stick with your program, and chances are you will do great!
