I am unsure which surgery you had but i bet you can get a ton of guidance from people that had the same surgery you did, try going to the forum for your surgery type. They are all listed under the word forums at the top center of your web page

I was hypersensitive to anything having to do with food for the first couple of weeks out. When I had my RNY in 3/05, Burger King was introducing some massive breakfast sandwich (surprised I can't remember now EXACTLY what it was! ) and sitting in the hospital post-op, those ads drove me NUTS. They were on every channel! Then when I got home, I found myself landing on the Food Network constantly and watching lots of that. For me, there was no nausea or pain post-op to speak of (little gas), no trouble keeping foods down at all. I considered that something to be thankful for, considering the troubles I knew others had. I didn't get any sense of satiation for several weeks, until substantial proteins were added to the diet (minced chicken, beef, fish). I felt very hungry most of the time, starting in the hospital post-op, and that was rough. These things worried me also, and I was afraid they were signs that this was going to be just like every other way I tried to lose weight, failure. But I ended up doing just fine (details in my profile). Hang in there, stick with your program, and chances are you will do great!
