I am just over 10 months out and my hair is getting sooo thin. I thought that it was supposed to stop falling out by this point. I guess I don't regret having ht esurgery, but its like, dang . . .now I am slender and bald.

Don't give up yet, I hear a lot of people say it comes back. I had very thin hair (due to a thyroid condition) before surgery (just celebrated my 3rd year out) and unfortunately I lost a lot of hair. A wig was uncomfortable so I joined hair club. That was two years ago. I'd recommend giving it more time to come back first. Nioxxin shampoo may also help. The important thing is to do what is right for "you". Good luck.

Jenny, your hair will come back. You need to make sure that you are getting in the water, consuming at least 70 gms of protein and taking your vitamins faithfully. I notice that my hair and skin get dry if I have been noncompliant with my vitamin regiman or if I don't get at least 100 gms of protein daily. We are all different but if you increase your protein intake you may see a change. The good news is it does come back. The bad news stress, reconstuctive surgery, vitamin deficiency will cause you to shed again. Short hair does help. Take care, Robin

hi jenny.. i have hereditary hairloss. i've been dealing with it for about 10 years. i did extensions, wigs. yeah. it sucked. but then i finally tried dermatch and wow! i get compliments all the time on my thick curly hair. i'm serious! but when i dont use it ( i dont leave the house without it) the whole top of my head is scalp and a little hair. but i'm tellin ya, try it out! at least until your hair comes back in. i know how devistating hair loss is for a woman! do yourself a favor. it's super cheap too, like 30 bucks and u get a second color free and free applicators for life. if u have any questions, email me! i'm tellin ya. get this stuff!

Have your ferritin checked. Ferritin is related to iron storage in your body, but I'm still learning. My hair started falling out at 15 months and has continued to get worse. I spent the summer going to doctors looking for an answer and nobody could tell me why it started thinning tremendously. I recently cam across an article on ferritin and its relation to hair loss -- if you do an internet search on "ferritin and hair loss" you'll find quite a few articles. My last ferritin level was 13 ng/ml, which is within normal limits. Several of the articles that I found suggested that a level fo 40 ng/ml was required to retain hair and 70 ng/ml to restore hair. I forwarded this information to my surgeon lat week and am awaiting his reply. Ask your surgeon if this is in play for you, sue O.

Hi Jenny, My hair started falling out at about 3 months (I'm almost 8 months out). I did a home remedy on my hair & believe it or not it like a magic potion, it might sound funny or weird but believe me... it works! I have not lost any hair since! Take 2-3 egg YOLKS and mix them with ground nutmeg. Put this mixture all over your SCALP right AFTER you shampoo your hair. Wear a plastic cap for about 30 minutes, then remove it with lots of water (DO NOT SHAMPOO AGAIN) . You may use conditioner after then style as usual. Please try it, what have you got to lose? Also, are you taking biotin and zinc supplements? Maggie
