Topic: RE: 2 male cats-one keeps mounting the other one
I work for a vet and it is definately a sign of dominance. Sometimes you can try and spray them with A water bottle when he does it. Sometimes, they just end up growing out of it. IT's very common... he's just trying to let the other one know that HE is in control of the house.
You might want to give him a little special attention.. that might help make him feel special and not threatened.
Hope this helps.

Topic: Daschund Problems
I have a miniature daschund and a miniature poodle. My poodle is 12 years old and my daschund in 3 years old. They are both in the house. My poodle is house broken and will go outside to use the bathroom and when she goes outside she stays in our yard and doe her"business" then she comes back inside. My daschund on the other hand, will pee all over the ktichen floor, **** up his leg in the laundry room and when I get ready to take him outside, he runs away.
Then I spend the next three hours trying to find him.
I even got a cage to put outside to put him in so he won't run away, but I want him to be able to run around like our poodle and not run away. (Oh, BTW, I am from a small town and have I have a huge yard and have neighbors) PLEASE HELP!!!! I am soo tired of getting up every morning and getting a mop out to clean up pee and poop. Any suggestions????

Topic: RE: Ceasar R.I.P. 3-01-04
I know its been awhile since your post, but I had to give my condolences. I feel for your grief, Ive been there. God bless Ceasar and you. Just remember he left this earth very loved, and you know thats all that matters. He will remember his wonderful time with you. He had a wonderful life, although it was cut short. I wish you the best, and I am very sorry for your lost.
I am a huge animal lover, and this story made me cry. I Hope things have gotten better for you by now. Maybe you have another cat, who can never replace the one you lost, but maybe who can fill that void. You will meet again at Rainbow Bridge until that day, keep the memories you have alive. Which I know you will. Take care.
Topic: RE: Say a prayer please
I know your post is a few months old, but I had to reply. I know exactly what you mean when you say hes like your own child. My animals are everything to me. I will say a prayer for your beloved cat, and I wish him the best. Just remember he is loved by you, and what more could he ask for.
Topic: 2 male cats-one keeps mounting the other one
I have a 5 month old cat, who Ive had since 3 weeks old. We are extremely close. I then got him a buddy who is 8 months old. They are both neutered and both get the same attention. I find the older cat mounting the younger one alot, and the younger one is screeching. Honestly, the younger cat is the dominate one. I called the vet, and got laughed at when I asked if he would continue with it, if I wasnt home to stop it. They say its just a form of dominance, but at this point the poor cat cant even eat without the other cat mounting him. I dont know what to do. Other than that they love each other, they play fight, chase each other all day, sleep together, clean each others faces.
This is the only problem, or is it a problem. Ive had animals my whole life and never encountered this problem. The kitten was fixed before entering sexual puberty, so I dont think he understands.
If anyone has any suggestions please help. The older cat knows I dont like it, because I clap my hands and say loudly stop it. So he knows I dont want him doing it. Other than that theyre both wonderful cats.
Topic: RE: Wanted - new dog! Question??
Hello Tanya, I have 4 dogs, a male pomeranian, a male pug, and 2 female ****ers, in pack behavior their is always a leader. My youngest female ****er is the pack leader, because she outweighs everyone else by 5 lbs. For a very long time while she was growing the male pom was the Alpha male, however as her weight overcame him and all of the others they became subserviant to her. I would suggest getting a dog as close to the size and weight of the other one as possible. I really don't think sex matters, my 2 males play together and so do my 2 females. What makes a good dog is its personality. If you decided to get a puppy play with the entire litter. Check for behavior problems like chewing aggressively, and b arking, these are negitive behaviors that can be broken, however just like children dogs have temperments. A sleepy, happy, quiet puppy I have found to be a better choice in the long run. It won't stay sleepy and quiet for long however you chances of the agressive behavior might be a little better . I wouldn't worry about the Cat, they tend to take care of themself. I have 2 and both are declawed. -- Good luck - Kat
Topic: RE: any professional dog groomers????
Hi Heather, I am a professional groomer, however I work out of my home and do grooming part - time. I have a full time job in the telephony industry that I've been with for 17 years. I find dog grooming extremely fulfilling, I have 4 dogs of my own, a pomerania, 2 ****ers and a pug. I would suggest you take a class, its not difficult however, you need to be trained. Sometimes, Petsmart, or one of the larger stores offer classes, you might start their. I took a course through Thompson Education Direct, they do have a payment plan. You can find them on the internet You will need dogs to work on while your learning, you might try the city pound or try offering some friends free services while you learn. I have about 2000 invested in equipment and supplies at my shop. this is very minimal, you will need cages, table, clippers , blades, different shampoos, a bathing facility, a dryer, brushes, combs, rakes ets... Their are also schools which have courses 8-5 they are quite expensive, around 5000.00 for a full course. Look under dog grooming on the internet. In my city, a standard breed 30 lb dog gets about 35.00 for a full groom. It takes alot of dogs to pay for the equipment. I got into this because of my own dogs . When you have 4 it's cheaper to do it yourself, so I invested in the best supplies I could afford and took a class to help me groom my animals. I only recently decided to open up publically, and I don't advertise, because I want to keep my shop small. Good luck with your goals.
