Hi Everyone,
It has been 15 years now since I first had bariatric surgery. I first had a lap band that after a few years had slipped and had to have it removed. I had to wait 6 months and then had a Roux-N-Y done. I lost over 160lbs and was very happy with the results, but lately I have gain some weight back. Actually 50lbs and need to get it off before it gets worse. I heard of the bariatric reset diet, where you start off with the post op diet and follow it like you just had surgery again. I plan on starting this this week and hopefully it will be successful. I contribute it to getting back into eating carbs and having sugar. So those are going to be almost non-existent from now on. I will let you all know how it goes. This is especially for those who have already had the surgery now for a few years and have gain some weight back. It will be good to know they can resolve the issue by themselves. Take care everyone!

You said your only getting one protein shake in a day and that is not good enough. Your body will think your in starvation mode, so you need to kick it up. You need to try and get those 60g of protein in a day. That will help you. All you will be doing is drinking constantly for at least the first few weeks.
Hang in there Jeff it will all be worth it. I am 12 days Post-OP and have already lost 20 pounds. You wont even be thinking about eating after surgery. Just make sure you get your protein and water in. Its very important. You don't want to get dehydrated. Good Luck.
Start cutting back early. I have had to go through this twice. Once for a lapband and just 12 days ago for a RNY. Have a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and then a moderate dinner. It really did help get me through those 10 days. Once you get through the first 3 days its a little easier. Good luck.
Go back to only eating a cup of food. Make good food choices. Get rid of stuff in your house that will tempt you. Buy good food. Watch the carbs and drink lots of water. Most of all get out there and start walking. Get yourself a pedometer so you can see your progress. I live in Michigan myself. Keep us informed of your progress and good luck.
Yes I had a lap band and it did the same thing. I had it removed last year before Thanksgiving and the problem was that it was stuck to my stomach and the only way for them to remove it was to take a small chunk of my stomach with it. Recovery was pretty sore but I recovered and now just 12 days ago I had a RNY and doing great. Already lost 20 lbs. I wish you the best.
Hi Everyone,
Well I'm 12 Days Post OP and feeling pretty good. I'm no longer taking any pain meds. Haven't taken any in over 4 days. Finally get to move up to pureed foods tomorrow. Best thing....I have lost 20 pounds since going in for surgery. I also had one of my blood pressure medicines taken away. Cant wait to see what in store down the road.
Going in for my RNY surgery tomorrow. Believe it or not I cant wait, WHY you ask. To get off this damn liquid diet for 10 days. LOL Its a killer but I have made my way through it. Now to move on with my life. Wish me luck.
I'm into the final stages of my Pre-Op Diet. I am so glad I cut back before hitting that diet. Its still hard to do but makes it a little easier. Especially from day 1 thru 3. After that it eases up. Going in on April 10th for my RNY. I had a lap band 4 1/2 years a go that went bad on me so I getting the RNY instead. Second time through bariatric surgery doesn't make it any easier on nerves. I know this is going to be good for me, but I just pray I can get the rest of the weight off and keep it off.
Good Luck Kelli. Mine Roux is scheduled for the 10th. My wife had this done and has been very successful. Get ready to buy a lot of new clothes!
Hi Everyone,
Its been a while since I was last on here. One of a couple faults of my own doing. You don't realize how much this site keeps you in focus on what you are trying to accomplish until you screw up. Yes I screwed up. Part band fault part my own doing. My band had shifted because I believe I had to much fluid and I was vomiting a lot after my last fill which was a week before Thanksgiving last year. After a few attempts to correct the problem I had to have it removed. One of my faults was not cutting up my food small enough. Enough with beating myself over and over like I have some many times already. So I am moving on. I am having a Roux-N-Y on April 10th. My wife had one done and has done fantastic on it. She has lost over 140lbs and is now almost in a size 10. She is so happy. I have already started the process of cutting down portions and also part of the Pre-suregery prep work (you know only drinking protein shakes and having a half cup of cottage cheese a day) this is to shrink the liver. I am not 100% hard core on that yet because I'm still 11 days a way from doing the Pre-Op diet. I have found its easier to do the diet if you start cutting back a few weeks before. Anyways, I am really excited for this to happen. I want to lose the rest of my weight. I lost over a 100 lbs with the band, but I need to lose a lot more. So you will see me around here now. I must make this place part of my life to stay on track and focused on the goal at hand. Take care everyone.
A leak is a easy repair. My band shifted on me last year and I had to have it removed. The band adhered to my stomach and they had to take a piece of my stomach out when they removed the band. It was pretty painful for a while but now I am going in for a Roux-N-Y in April. Cant wait to get it done. Good luck with your band.
Keep walking, it will help get teh gass out of your system. I had my surgery on Oct. 5th and feeling a lot better. The first week was pretty sore, but the 2nd week it was a lot better, but was pretty tired. I just got back to work this week. I taking it a little slow still, but really feels good to be back at work. I was bored at home. Take care and get your rest. Don't push the food to much. Take it nice and easy. Congratulations!
