Strength in Numbers, Let?s Help BIG MEDICINE!

"This truly is "do or die" time for the show. We need as many viewers as possible! And we need you watching live -- not via DVR later -- so that the cable network can get a true count for viewership. Nielsen ratings are still used; however, you no longer have to have a Nielson "box" to be counted. New technologies allow the cable companies "access" when you're watching -- they'll know if you're tuned in, so PLEASE put this date and time on your calendar and tune in that night." - Kimberly Taylor from The Davis Clinic
ObesityHelp.com urges our community to come together. Turn on Discovery Health and watch BIG MEDICINE?S ?Where Are They Now?? so that our viewership can be counted towards the show being picked up for a third season.
Importance of BIG MEDICINE
This show has been important to our community by helping raise awareness regarding morbid obesity, surgical treatment, and the people behind morbid obesity and their attempt to reclaim their lives. It has also given viewers that are struggling with morbid obesity an opportunity to gain knowledge of what surgical treatment is like.
The show chronicles various stages of the weight loss surgery process. We get to see people before, during and after surgery. There is often a view into recovery, post-op care and sometimes reconstructive procedures to remove excess skin after weight loss.

What OH Members are saying...
"I got to hear and meet Dr. Garth and Mary Jo back in June at the OH Event in Chicago. If it wasn't for Big Medicine I don't think I would have had my gastric bypass. I have already marked my calendar and will also tape it so I can watch it again. I bought season one on DVD and will be watching for season two."

"I am a fan of Big Medicine because it personalizes people that are morbidly obese and shows that we have stories not to merely be dismissed by society. It makes wls more acceptable to media, medical professionals and the public. I'll definitely be watching as I appreciate the motivation and inspiration I feel every time I see the show."
