Good afternoon everyone,
I have a surgery date set for 9/19 and I am just worried about the risk and outcome of the sleeve.
Has anyone had Dr. Shillingford as a surgeon and can provide any feedback and outcomes if he did your surgery.
I worry about a few things and feel free to answer.
- Is the surgery painful?
- did anyone have the surgery at the Palm Beach Gardens outpatient center?
- did you have lovonax shots after and if so for how long?
- any complications and regrets?
- any positives ( greatly welcomed )
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and calm my nerves a bit.

I don't know anyone specific in that area, but what are you looking to do - just remove it, or revise it to something else (how has your weight maintenance been?) If a revision, do you have a preference or inclination toward one or another, as that can drive a choice of surgeon. Some, without looking at anything, will simply state that with reflux you need a bypass, end of story. But others may say, let's take a look at things and then decide what works best. If you are inclined toward a DS, those guys are harder to come by so you may have to travel some, while there's probably a bypass doc right around the corner.

Wife's DS - 5/05 w Dr. Robert Rabkin VSG on 5/9/11 by Dr. John Rabkin
I recently moved to Georgia and need to find a bariatric surgeon in the central part of the state to remove my Realize band. The port is sideways and I developed horrible reflux. Anyone one here have any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi there!
I'm good! I posted some follow up after surgery on the DS board. My fault for not following up here.
Surgery was super fast - under 45 minutes. I don't even remember making it to anesthesia. I woke up in recovery and then two hours early in my room. The worst pain was from the gas and I was keen to be up and walking asap. I discharged at 10am the next morning after meeting all their requirements.
I just had my first post op appointment today and was moved to soft foods from all protein shakes and water. The surgeon says the incisions look good and are healing, however slowly. I've been puttering around at home the whole time being careful about bending and lifting but haven't had pain issues. The bit of cottage cheese today was amazing.
I did have to work literally all the time to meet the protein and water goals in the first week. Took a few days of constant sipping but now meeting everything consistently and I can sip up to 10 ounces an hour.
No buyers remorse here but it's certainly been a journey! Are you getting a DS?
