Try as many different things as you can,

you'll find one that you love! I love rowing, trx, Pilates and the elliptical. I don't really like working out with other people, I hate live virtual workouts but am absolutely fine with recorded classes. I really like boxing too. Try it all and you'll find something!

Topic: Sleeved 12/2019- acid reflux so bad I needed blood transfusions

I'm looking for others who may have had a similar experience as I am experiencing right now.

I was sleeved 12/27/2019, HW 317, SW 279, CW 207

I had no acid reflux before surgery but have had horrific acid reflux every since. I've tried tons of medications and I'm now on 4 medications and still have reflux. I have grade 4 esophagitis now and the bleeding as been bad enough that I've been hospitalized twice in the past month for anemia due to blood loss and needed 3 transfusions over two hospital stays. I've had a colonoscopy, two endoscopies, a manometry test and a barium swallow in the past month.

I met with surgeon today and he wants to start me on Dexilant for 6-8 weeks in hopes it heals my esophagus enough to operate. Originally he had suggested a conversion to bypass, which I was okay with. Today he said he wants to do a hiatal hernia repair and place a Linx device around my esophagus. He said he doesn't think I would lose more weight with a bypass which is why he is suggesting this.

Has anyone has a Linx device placed?

I don't like the idea of having a foreign object placed in my body. And I worry about erosion.

Thanks

Thanks for the great information and suggestions. Getting moving has been hard but I am determined to stick with it. Walking seems to be my best option at this point I would like to add in weights soon tho. You have done so very well congrats to you

I would ask. I remember that RNYers are not supposed to take Pepto Bismol because it has an NSAID in it. Some surgeons don't allow their VSG patients to take NSAIDs, either.

Ok so I read past posts and they all state Immodium AD. I'm going to research it. Any advice would be helpful.

Do I need to ask before taking pepto bismol or other medicines? Not to get into to much detail but I've had diarrhea and if it persists I'd like to take something to help.

Topic: High vitamin A

Hello,

just wondering if anyone has had high vitamin A levels come back on lab work? I'm not taking any supplements with vitamin A and my diet isn't high in vitamin A rich foods...

Topic: RE: Getting nervous!

LeonaCR,

Being nervous now is a healthy thing.

Take this time to prepare for life after surgery. You are already on the road to good health. You have made a decision to change the way your body processes food. It has worked for many of us on this board. My surgery was an early weight loss procedure that is no longer done as mine was done.. the RNY and other procedures were derived from what i had..My surgeon was a professor and wrote the book on TPN< literally..wrote the book.

There are things you should be doing now to care for yourself....begin some light exercises now to get yourself in a routine... even if it is only isometrics sitting in a chair.. or lifting a can of veggies in each hand..Your goal should be to build healthy habits now...You can do this for you!

Measure every thing you put in your mouth... estimate your water til you can look at a cup and tell how many cc's are in it.. think in cc/s at first and later you will think in ounces.

. Learn to estimate your protein til you can "eye" a pc of meat and determine its approx size to determine protein. This will be another tool in your toolbox as you begin going to eat in settings i n which you have not prepared the meal.

tip.If in doubt order any sauces or toppings on the side. You can then choose a smaller amount if it is needed.

after surgery make multiple copies of your supplements your surgeon prescribes,One for a deep file and one for daly use when any instruction changes add it to your master file and why it was changed. You need these on paper.. because. some time in the future you may need a permanent record. and the office may no longer exist.

and write down the amount of protein and carbs he/she thinks you need for healing and optimal weight loss...then also for maintenance.
