Lot of news articles of late about Tammy .. I won't post the links here, but one concerns her failed attempt to get loose skin removal surgery .. Her dermatologist/PS advises that generally the surgery is not done on WLS post-ops until they are at least 18, and preferably, 24 months out from their WLS date. There is just too much risk that their bodyweight/BMI may still fluctuate before then, working against the removal efforts. So, it looks like she will just have to wait a few more months before getting it done.

Al finally points out what I have always thought about food addiction, re: unlike with addictions to other substances, you do have to eat .. which makes managing such an addiction especially difficult :

I am looking to slim down, in time for Christmas 2024.
I want to lose 5 to 8 lbs. by then.
I will engage in calorie restriction. I will get light exercise in.
Who's willing to join me?!
Thanks.
A Fresh Start in the First State
A New Chapter Begins
I'm excited to announce that my family and I are embarking on a new adventure! We're moving to Delaware to be closer to a dear friend and to start fresh. This move is more than just a change of scenery; it's a chance to reinvent ourselves and embrace a healthier, happier future.
A Journey Towards Wellness
A big part of this new chapter is my decision to undergo weight loss surgery. This isn't just about physical transformation; it's about reclaiming my life and becoming the person I've always wanted to be. I'm excited to share this journey with you all, the ups, the downs, and everything in between.
A Supportive Community
Moving to a new state can be daunting, but I'm fortunate to have a supportive friend who's welcomed us with open arms. I'm also looking forward to meeting new people and building a community that will encourage and inspire me.
Stay Tuned
I'll be sharing more about our move, our new home, and my weight loss journey in the coming weeks and months. I'm grateful for your support and can't wait to see what the future holds.
I had attended Dr Molinas seminar on the gastric banding. In 1983 I believe it was I had the surgery. I had no real problems except for eating too much or something that my stomach didn't like and I would vomit.
Then in August of 2013 my stomach was bleeding I was passing dark blood. I had to have emergency surgery. I really lucked out that there was a Doctor Antonio Castaneda in the room and overheard the doctors. He immediately said he knew the problem. He had worked in Houston Hospital where this was happening. Dr Castaneda is in Fort Worth, Texas. I spent 23 days in the hospital. He performed a reverse gastric sleeve surgery.
Speaking of which, just saw in the news this weekend where Tammy has moved in with her brother (Chris) at his place. They say this is the first time she has lived "independently" since her WLS ..

Just like many of you, I'm on a journey to improve my health. My parents were huge Dolly Parton fans And name me after her song jolene, and I've always loved her music and positive spirit. At 350 pounds, I know I need to make changes to be there for my two amazing kids, Alexander (7) and Samantha (12). That's why I've decided to have weight loss surgery.
I'm excited to be a part of Obesity Help and connect with others who are facing similar challenges. I believe in the power of community and hope to find support and encouragement here.
