Topic: RE: Just had vsg done and I regret it

Only 11 days out is way too early to be getting "buyer's remorse". It was around that time I was pounding walls, yelling at people (inc. my surgical concierge) and wondering WTH have I done to myself (or even whether my surgeon knew what he was doing and possibly messed me up inside). It's like suddenly having your jaws wired shut, as far as your food intake goes -- that's the best way I could describe that phase of the surgery. Eventually, you and your body will adjust to the procedure, you'll have more confidence in it and what's going on, esp. as you see the pounds fall off. Soon your mood will swing just the opposite way and you'll be so glad you went through it. Keep the faith!

UT OH .. I just checked on the date, and apparently the Conference was this current weekend. I missed it, after all this time waiting on it .. Wish OH would have sent our reminder emails to all the members last month. I was thinking it was further into October, not at the very beginning of the month, for some reason.

Oh well, hope a lot of members were able to attend and it went well .. I haven't seen any reviews, pics, etc. of it posted (yet) ..

Topic: RE: ADDITIONAL CASTING CALL - Revision of WLS or Plastic Surgery - Share your story!

Curious as to whether they will pick up the cost of the revision surgery (i.e. as "compensation for their participation") or whether that is on us, if you know? If the production co. covers the cost, this would be an excellent opportunity for members who need the surgery to have it done, either w/o ins. or whose ins. co. refuses to cover it.

Topic: RE: I weigh over 700 lbs what advice you give me statred my weight loss jounery

Wow .. frankly, amazed anyone could even be alive @ that weight .. You need surgical intervention, ASAP. I would think the best way to proceed would be a DS, performed in two parts/procedures, given that extremely high of a BMI, for added safety. Have you checked out the DS forum yet? With that high of a BMI, the surgery is now usually done in two parts, with the V.S.G. (sleeve formation) done first, to reduce and control/limit your intake of food. After your weight has reduced to a lower level (whatever the surgeon feels is appropriate ) then you return for the second part of the DS, which is the actual re-routing and bypassing of the intestine, designed to cause "malabsorption" of the food you do take in, to achieve additional weight loss. Please look into getting this done, ASAP. Sometimes insurance will cover it (plenty of posts on the DS forum on that subject) but if you don't have ins. there are other options, inc. doing what I did, which was to go out of the country to have it done cash pay for only a fraction of the U.S. cost. The only problem with that approach in your situation is you may, and likely do have, "travel limitations' due to your size. Also, doing a two-part procedure would mean having to go out of the country twice. Good luck to you, and please check in to let us all know of your progress.

Topic: RE: Telehealth Appointments?

IMHO, it's a joke and just a new way for docs to make the same $$ w/o having to do as much work as before. As I told my doc (of 20+ years, btw), I need to be physically EXAMINED .. to listen to my heart and lungs, take my pulse (and not just the rate ) .. You can't do that over a T.V. monitor (or a "phone conference", like I'm set up for ) .. And I"m having disturbing symptoms in those areas, inc. a fast heart rate (may be related to my a-fib? ~~~^v~~~^v~~~ ) Still, we're at a proverbial Mexican standoff - if I don't let him do the phone thing (and pay him his usual office $$ fee, of course - I don't have ins., btw) then he's not going to renew my meds (for high b.p., mild diabetes and depression). So, when my meds ran out, they ran out .. Have been off them for many months now, and in some ways actually feel better (although not so good in others) .. In the meantime I have also discovered online places (e.g. Ultalabs) that I can get not only my usual blood tests ordered from but any others I feel I need w/o a doctor's prescription, and at less $$ than I was charged by having the draws done in his clinic. I then fax the results over to my doc's to be put in my chart for future reference (i.e. when he finally is wiling to see patients again in person). In that regard, so far so good .. (although my Ferritin level is very low, but then it has been that way since almost the beginning of my DS, despite heavy supplementation for it ). One thing I discovered is that, w/o the gram of Metformin a day in my "diet", my A1c only increased from 6.1 to 6.6, still well below the 7.0 important "marker". Sounds like there was no need for me to even be on it the past dozen or so years, and no telling what damage it may have done to my liver and in those other ways that are coming out in the media now about that medication. If I jus****ched my carb intake I could probably drop it below 6.0 once again, like it was right out of WLS. So, if I develop some new, disturbing symptoms or my blood tests show something new going askew, I'll head to the county hospital's ambulatory care clinic (although it's packed of late with Covid patients ) .. Otherwise, I'm O.K..

Topic: RE: Woke up vomiting Foamies.. Anyone Else ever have THIS?!

I will be 14 years out from RNY this month. I get the foamies once in a while. In my case it is from eating something with roughage and not chewing enough.

I track what I eat, so it is easy to see what caused it. I used to have problems with eggs and don't eat them at all. At one of our weight loss meetings, my surgeon showed an x-ray picture of a woman who ate an artichoke. A leaf completely blocked her stoma and he had to perform surgery to get it out. For the rest of your life, it is important to chew food thoroughly.

The old stomach acted like a big blender. When food went into it, it churned it around until it was a smooth liquid. In October, an apple can give me foamies. Salad greens, raw spinach, chicken, and scrambled eggs are a few other things that can make it happen.

Your pouch might feel irritated. It can help to have a day of things like protein shakes, broth, puddings, and applesauce. Anytime the stoma, which is usually smaller than a US quarter, gets blocked the body produces that slimy, foamy liquid to try to get the opening loose and cleared.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends

Topic: RE: should or shouldn't go to my highschool reunion after lose 200lbs

I have never attended a high school reunion. Guess I feel like a real disappointment. I was voted ?lost on a desert island with ? .... puking up after ever meal .... working out four hours every day and still feeling fat .... for gods sakes my jeans were 29 s .

and my father decided I was a **** after the boys voted for m ... thanks

But if I lost 200 lbs .... nothing would keep m from going .... get the hottest dress and incredibly hot lingerie for underneath.... just for the confidence boost .

And realize you got the hot fat grrl long hair ... big titties .... boyz really don't like the skinny minnies ... just b confident in your beauty your fertility..... just enjoy the attention.... you DESERVE it ((((()))

Topic: Woke up vomiting Foamies.. Anyone Else ever have THIS?!

I'm almost 4 years out from RNY. The other day I woke up feeling really weird. Naseous. I ran to the washroom knowing something was coming up and whole bunch of those whitish, clear foamies came up. I walked it off. Took a Prevacid and was fine after a bit.

I have had a scope. I have some redness but no ulcer. I had an ulcer about 6 months post op and have been on Prevacid ever since. My doctor said I'm probably "one of those who have to take Prevacid for life." Anyway, has anyone ever had this happening to them? I never have and am concerned. I was able to book an appointment to see my surgeon in early November where I will be asking about this.

Topic: RE: Do you think keeping food and exercise journal help is a good tool to have

Yes .... in a limited way . I personally do not believe in dieting so I?m very reluctant to do anything that feels confining or unnatural.

That said ... if you want to b successful with this wonderful surgery you MUST change your day to day eating and exercise habits . That?s why people post menus n exercise on their surgery boards often every day . Seems to work . (((()))) hugs ... and always wishing you the very best .

for me .... finding exercise I enjoy ( and a funny partner to meet up with gossip and share laughs with first thing in the morning) is HUGE.

Exercise seriously can be not a trial but real fun .... you just need to find something easy you actually can enjoy. For me it?s just walking and gossiping like a yenta lol !

For full disclosure... I also swim about an hour every other day when I can ...

I also find making low or no fat ( and sugarless) food choices much more forgiving weight loss wise .
