I don't think you can control what you are afraid of unless you go through therapy.
I think many of us have excess skin; many have had plastic surgery to resolve it but many just live with it.
everything is a trade off -- my fat kept me from having wrinkles and droopy skin but would have shortened my life; now I have more wrinkles and dragon wings on my arms but I have much better health.
Trade off works for me!

I used to weigh over 700 lbs, And I have question, How can I not be afraid to have excess skin after weight loss surgery?
I guess I should have also mentioned that my recommended dosages of 5000 IU daily is not specific to me, it is that same dosage they recommend everyone through my healthcare. It just alarmed me how my Doctors recommend 5000 to everyone while my friend's only recommends 2000.
I have not had any labs done recently, I was just curious. I was going to contact my doctor directly after hearing some of your responses.
doctors are people. They all have different opinions about how things should be done.
this includes aftercare plans. No two doctors will likely have the same plan.
surgeons are cutters. They do t really like the aftercare part. That's why they are cutters. The fo k ow, however, That they hAve to give a guideline for after care to bariatric patients. Unless they have a strong bariatric practice and strong aftercare, their plans are just a beginning guideline.
That is why getting your labs done , at least yearly, is mandatory. You can't go by what your friend or anybody else is doing. It doesn't even matter what they are doing, cause you aren't them. It doesn't matter what any of us are doing either. The only thing that matters is you and what your body is telling you it needs.

Thanks!
I have adhesions from multiple abdominal surgeries, lupus, & fibromyalgia. Since having wls, I've been hospitalized over 20x. I'm not sure if I'm helpable*(a Reigny word!). I appreciate the offer though!
Thanks!,

I also take a high dose of vitamin D to stay in the normal range - 2 x 50k iu of dry D3 per week.
Vitamin D is fat soluble, so it's important to not take too much. Always be guided by your regular lab levels.

Hi Truffles !! ( I LIKE that name makes m smile :) )
we CAN help U here ...
Sometimes life can be overwhelming. Prayer, patience and time can give you the answers you need. Be as kind as you can to yourself during this stressful time.
I wish I had NEVER had wls! My life has been a hospital nightmare ever since.
However, I wish you much success and good luck with your surgery!

Trying to get back on track with my vitamins, and I'm just wondering if I'm taking too much. My D3 is a 5000 IU a day, but my Calcium and Multivitamin also had D3. My friend who also had surgery (with different provider) was only asked to take 2000 IU a day. I've looked at some websites that say 2500, etc a day. Real curious what dose of every vitamin people are taking.
I think one really has to look at doctor recommendations as just that, recommendations.
The dose one ends up taking should be determined by lab work.
everyone is different. I take 50,000, yes, fifty thousand, IU of Vitamin D a day, every day, and labs ,done every 6 months, show that to be an appropriate dose for me.
what do your labs tell you?
