It's amazing how much weight loss surgery can lower cancer risks and improve survival rates. The fact that 42% of Americans are obese is really worrying.
I've read on this website that studies have linked talcum powder to cancer. Talcum powder is made from talc, which is found near asbestos, a cancer-causing substance. Even though manufacturers try to keep talc and asbestos separate, some talc can still have asbestos in it. Because of this, using talcum powder could increase cancer risk.
It's interesting how lifestyle changes and being aware of what products we use can have such a big impact on our health. Stay informed and take care!
I'm certain the numerous benefits of wls, including lowering many risks of diseases caused by obesity, are well worth having the surgery. I'm also convinced we are all at greater risk of various diseases and complications that arise from the imbalance wls creates in all of our bodies. It's still well worth it in my opinion but physical imbalances come with a price, and that may include higher incidents of certain types of cancer and medical issues. I asked my surgeon about this a few years ago and he agreed it's a possibility although there has never been a study on the exact topic.
It's crazy how much of an impact weight loss surgery can have on reducing the risk of obesity-related cancers. And yeah, that obesity statistic is definitely alarming.
