Thanks for sharing. I like his, "Can I just walk the earth please? " push back on people who always have something to say about how you look over time.

I also had the Sadi but mine was in 2014. I'm curious why you suddenly dropped 22 in month 9.

Hi! Yep, I've read your posts and you're one of the few active people who have had the same surgery!

I don't have a great answer for why...this is unplanned loss that started when I had some nasty GI symptoms kick in last month. I know I have bile reflux after my gallbladder removal (EGD showed it two weeks ago) but don't think that's the core of what's going on. There's huge intestinal involvement. It hurts to eat and I end up with a couple of hours of pain with most food now. It feels like I'm back at day 1 restriction and have to force myself to eat.

My WLS clinic is hanging their hat on reflux and put me on ursodiol and levsin. It's helping but I'm still hurting and losing weight I shouldn't be. I woke up with neuropathy on top of it all a couple of weeks ago.

Short answer...not fully sure what's going on and I'm trying to work through my WLS clinic and PCP to figure it out. If you've experienced something similar, would love to compare notes!

It's a modified duodenal switch surgery. We have one anastomosis to a point in the intestines instead of a whole second limb. The common channel is left longer to stave off potential deficiencies. Mine is 300 cm. The surgery has been around for over a decade but hadn't gotten a lot of attention for being an accepted WLS until the last couple of years when it was cleared and no longer an experimental surgery.

Very interesting, esp. being that I am a "traditional" DS patient (17 years out, now) .. I have to wonder now if there would have been any advantages in me having the S.A.D.I. instead, had it been available back then. I would like to "tweak" my surgery today, since I am technically 100 lbs. overweight .. I wonder if a "conversion" to that type of sugery is (1) possible and, if so, (2) preferable as a form of revision .. ?

btw, who was your surgeon?

From what I know about SADI - no and no.

So far people witn DS get bettef results in losing weight and maintaining it as long as they follow proper way of eating. Some DS claim SADI is not as good as DS.

People who don't lose enough weight with SADI or get complications- like bile reflux - get revised to full DS as far as I know.
