Fell back into old habits

I had my surgery in 2015 I was close to 300 pounds. I lost the weight and was doing great. I am on numerous medications for anxiety and bipolar that just adds the weight on. I am not a saint I am eating things that I should not eat. I currently weigh 192 pounds and I need to get back on track.

I love the Pure Protein drinks adn I am using them in the am and pm. Any advice for meal plans anyone has to share? I am eating due to stress. I am not hungry but when the stress starts I run to the kitchen.

Been there. I've got 66.5 pounds to lose,too get back to my lowest post op weight. It's hard, but can be done. We have a tool, and we've got to use it. All I can suggest is to try and call the nutritionist (misspelled), that was part of the place you went for surgery. (S)he will be the best to help you. Good luck. You've got this.

I suggest you check into therapy to help you leArn to deal with stress snd anxiety.

stress snd anxiety are always going to be pare of life.

Learning tools to help you deal with them is the best advice I can offer.
No food plan is going to work if you do nt deal with that first.

Thank you. yes. I am doing therapy 2X week. It's been a struggle. Medication and therapy does help but not to the point where I can manage the binge habits.

that's great to heSr. It takes time but it does work. You might visit WWW.theworldsccordingtoeggface.com. She is a bariatric patient who develops recipes for every stage of bariStric eating.

It is so easy to get complacent the further we get out. I got there and it was so difficult to get back on track at first. Im doing much better now, I do plan meals and try to keep carbs to veggies but I do agree with another reply, therapy to help deal with stress and anxiety are necessary. I've done better with it and I feel like I can manage my emotional eating better as well.

I forgot to mention when I came back to this site they had started a recipe forum and I found it to be helpful with meal planning and ideas as all seem to be low carb and high protein check it out when you have time https://www.obesityhelp.com/bariatric-recipes/

I was able to get meal ideas and get back on track.

When I had regain, I went to my bariatric dietitian. The first thing she advised me to do was get rid of protein drinks. She said protein drinks are fine when you are newly out of surgery and not able to eat enough solid foods to get in your protein. But when you are able to eat lean dense protein, then that is what fills you up. Drinking your protein is not filling enough.

She told me to read labels, look for low fat versions of foods, track everything, count calories, weigh myself daily, drink lots of water, take my vitamins and get plenty of exercise. Some people may be successful drinking protein shakes, eating full fat cheeses, drinking whole milk, indulging in breads, pastas, and sugary treats. I am not one of them. I was close to three years out of surgery then.

I had surgery in 2007. I am currently seven pounds over my goal and plan to lose that after the holidays. I have had periods of regain. Several years ago, I was 30 pounds over my goal. I accept that I have to control my food for the rest of my life. I attend Weigh****chers again. I get my exercise. I count my points and attend meetings. The virtual meetings make it easy for me to stay with it.

For me, surgery was a two year honeymoon where my weight dropped and stayed off like magic. That wore off. Now I work hard, but it is worth it to me.
