Water intake and fluids

I get a good 8 plus cups of water in every other day and in between I get 4-6 cups. Is that okay? Do you count coffee or tea as water intake? I have not.

Other then water, milks, tea, and coffee, what else is healthy and safe to drink?

I count any uncaffeinated fluid towards my daily water goal.

I drink a lot of things like flavored waters and Crystal Light in addition to water, although given the artificial sweeteners in them, they're probably not the healthiest choice...

Thanks for replying. I will look into flavored water. I wonder if powerade zero is okay to have.

I would think Powerade Zero should be fine...

  1. protein shakes are considered liquid as well as broth, jello and sugar free popsicles.
Even if you are past the liquid stage you can use those to increase your intake.

I never thought of that. I love broth and Jello would be great when I crave a fruity drink. Thanks.

Flavored water, Gatorade zero, Powerade zero, vitamin water zero, anything sugar free and non carbonated! That's what I've been living off of.

Apple mixed with pomegranate shake.
How is the idea of having green tea?

green tea is caffeinated, so it depends on the surgeon. Some are OK with caffeine, some aren't - some are OK with once you're a certain amount of time post-op, and others are OK with it if it's limited (e.g., 1-2 cups a day). Herbal teas should be fine, though - there are many herbal teas that don't contain caffeine.

Will I ever be able to drink soda pop? There are times I crave the carbonation of coke cola and I'm hoping in the future I can drink soda pop, not regularly but occasional. Same thing with orange juice or pineapple juice, in the future like when I'm sick or occasionally.
